This is the almost perfect balaclava for me. I need wind protection or my face freezes up. and this provides amazing protection and lets you breathe comfortably and hear your buddies on the trail. However, do not believe OR that this can been worn as a hat.The bottom opening is very small considering the advertised size of the item. If you fold as a hat it squeezes your head unmericifully. But the biggest problem is that I could just barely get it over my head--even though I ordered a size up from what the sizing chart indicates. Even so, the stitching on the bottom hem ripped (this happened on two different ones. My wife stitched it up so I can wear it, because otherwise I love it. I tried a MHW, but it didn't come close to keeping my head warm. The told me I needed to wear a hat with it. No thanks.

This balaclava fits me just right. I am 5'11" 172lbs. I bought it in a medium so I could wear a hat over it or helmet if needed. It is very warm and blocks the wind as stated. I would recommend a small to the woman who asked the question of what size she should get. It also stretches a little when you wear it and fits snug to your head so you have a little play room.

Unlike countless balaclavas, fits snugly & vents at nostrils & mouth. Meant for below degree conditions. I bought a SMALL because I'm female & fit BOYS YOUTH/YOUNG MENS hats.
