No review about Homestead Domey 3 but what seems to be its predecessor, the VE 23. Use this for backpacking in Sweden mainly and its a wonderful tent, easy to set up, roomy with the generous height inside and feels very reliable in hard winds, but what impress us most is the quality, we use it a lot and this tent is over 40 years! and still going strong. Hope the excellent quality still remains in new products.

Got this tent for 2 people with additional gear space. Its a great basic tent. Easy to put up. Well made, and roomy.

This is an excellent Fairweather tend to use when wind and rain is not in the forecast. A great choice for boat in or car camping, when weight and bulkiness is not a large concern. One significant design improvement suggested would be to change the door zipper configurations so the screens don't hit the ground, when you open the door wide - with this design, the door mesh easily gets underfoot, and holes easily appear in the netting, when they're staffed or sat upon.

Used this for the first time in Grand Teton NP in May. It snowed but we stayed warm and dry (also thanks to good sleeping bags). Other reviews said it was hard to set up and yes it was a little harder than a cheap tent but I'm a small (100lbs) woman and I managed fine. Really impressed with this tent!

Love this tent! Can withstand the rain for sure, but I do have problems with condensation on the inside of the tent. Other than that would highly recommend

Love the tent in general, I was able to get the peyote beige print which is awesome. But huge condensation problem, can withstand the rain like a but I have a problem with condensation inside the tent. Other than that it's great.

Overall this is an awesome tent. Several reviews described how it is difficult to set up. I'd have to disagree with that completely. Yes, it is quite tight gettingthe poles into the eyelets, but once in you've got a very solid and sturdy shelter, which is ultimately what I'm looking for. Materials seem very sturdy. I've had it out 5 times now, 3 of which were in below freezing temperatures and found it very comfortable. My only recommendation would be to purchase the foot print. It is a single wall tent and if there was a weakness on this one I'd say it might be the floor getting damaged. But for a couple of bucks TNF sells one custom cut for ththe tent, so potential problem eliminated.

Just got this tent and shelter in a great print! Set it all up in the backyard to make sure I was able to (reviews made it sound very difficult, not the easiest but I'm a 120lb female and only had my 12 year old son to help me and we managed just fine) I absolutely love it! Roomier than I was expecting and I love all the pockets and spots for hanging gear! Love how easy the fly goes on so if it starts to rain it's super quick to get on ??

Things that make this tent cool.....color, style, pockets everywhere and skylight. Tough to set up, getting the poles in the grommets can take a bit of leverage. I've tried to set it up in many different ways.....still takes some brut force to get them in. It does make for a tight fit when it's up, which is good, but can be difficult. I do overnight rafting trips in central Oregon, wind gust can sent a lot of tents down river, domey 3 didn't even budge. Works for me.

I am in love with this tent, from the quality of the structure to the beautiful print, it's just great! It was a pain getting it set up the first two times, but we found it's easier to set up if you don't stake it down first. I've camped in multiple Midwest thunderstorms in this tent and it has stayed completely dry and didn't collapse, this is the first tent I've had that I can say that about so that's pretty impressive. It's very spacious, too. You could easy fit a queen size air mattress and still have plenty of room for gear.

Great tent! This is my first TNF tent and I'm impressed. I read the reviews stating the setup was difficult, but went ahead anyway considering I'd figure it out. Yes it is tight, but the key is to make sure your pole color goes to the corresponding pole tab (where the pole end sticks in w/grommet) Start by placing all the poles in the correct sleeves and pull the bunched sections apart. Start with the 2 shorter poles, note that the tent poles wrap around the tent, not directly over top to give you a "dome" structure. Insert 1 end of the pole and then the other, as you are inserting the opposite side, pull slack out of the tent by sliding the pole tab w/grommet towards you, and pushing the pole into the tent, the pole will naturally fall to its canted position then the grommet goes on nicely, repeat with other short pole and finally the long one in front. Steak down accordingly. I had no issues and I love the mesh top for dry nights. The multiple doors with mesh allowed for added air flow as well as the small side vents. I dont have the footprint yet but used a tarp for the time being. A small amount of condensation was present in corners on a rainy outing, but dried quickly with morning sun. Works well in rain and stays dry from rainfall. The last outing including severe thunderstorms with torrential rain, that lasted several hours. I was expecting strong storms so I purchased the thermarest tranquility wing to pitch overtop for added water resistance, considering this is a lightweight single wall tent. It worked fantastic and I can use the wing for a vestibule, sun shade and multiple other uses. @ only 3lbs, it didnt add much. The tent held up great, has good airflow when fully opened, but like any other tent gets very warm inside on hot muggy days, which the wing helps in that case to keep the sun from being directly on the tent. IMO, if northface was to make an "optional" fly or wing to create a double wall with vestibule or sunshade it would be perfect!

The design of this tent is great and I love the space it offers for car camping and all bells and whistles inside but the poles are clearly too long by cm or so which makes placing the poles into the grommets very difficult. I've owned many TNF tents and this one was definitely manufactured incorrectly. For the average person I can imagine it would make setting up the tent quite hard but I was strong enough to get the pole into place so I'll keep using and enjoying it.

I bought this tent and the shelter(fshelter cam from an outdoor store) and I love them. Both are a bit hard to set up alone but really not bad with two ppl. It seriously took us under 10 minuets but that's coz we knew about the color coded poles. We also bought the matching bags in the homestead collection just coz we liked the print. The snackle bag is extremely useful and well made as well as the road soda and the road tripped. I hope to use them more in the next few months

The design and color of this product caught my attention right away. It´s study and has plenty of room. It takes more time to assemble than I would like. Fortunately, I saw a video on you tube that showed me how to assemble it. Over all, it´s a good product, and I happy that I purchased it.

I fell in love with the Tibetan Heat Map print a full twelve months ago. Now that we're a year later, I had to pick it up. I am in love. I decided to write a review having read all previous reviews, from someone who isn't terrible strong, and a casual camper. re: Set up issues: Tibetan has two purple poles and one orange pole. (different colours for different patterns, I'm sure!) In my case, you must do the orange pole last! Set up the two purple poles through the sleeves and it takes a little effort, but not impossible with one person. Then, thread your orange pole. One your poles are in, it's an easy set up. Make sure you keep your edges taut, it looks nicer and the rains slicks right off. Rain cover sits on top and doesn't budge. Negatives: we camped three days in solid rain and noticed some pooling in the very corners- about a tablespoon or two of rainwater. Suspect it's coming through the seams, given the low volume. We will be spraying our seams before next outing. Some condensation gathered on the inside. During the warmer breaks of the day, we opened up the doors and allowed the sun to dry out the tent quickly and efficiently. I would not recommend this tent for the heavy rain we just endured, just given the pooling. However, for summer camping with light rain, and plenty of sun, this tent will do splendidly. Overall, I love this tent and we will be using it for years to come. The colour is so striking and pretty. It kept us very warm, and dry. (rain in the corners stayed in the corners) There's a drying line that runs the inside of the tent that I strung battery-operated string lights to, and seeing the twinkling against the warm colours was really pretty.

Great tent! I got the water color pattern and it's very striking without being too loud. It's big enough to fit our full-size air mattress with extra room on the sides for our dog. The material is quality and the details like the drying line inside make it very convenient. The only downside is it's significantly hard to set up, I actually can't set it up alone and still struggle with another person. The tension of the rods are so much you have to be the hulk to get them into the grommets at the base. It's actually so much, that after only 3 uses the grommet is ripping out from the straps at the base. At this rate, it will definitely need to be repaired in its lifetime. Upside is, it's pretty dang sturdy when it finally is set up. Bottom line is, great tent, but if you are a mostly solo camper then this probably isn't for you.

I'm in Total Love with this tent ! We Set her Up and slept in it watching the moon sail over head till I fell to sleep. Awoke up to a rain shower, jumped up put on the cover and presto , snug as a bug in a cozy nest. Last night we had the BIGGEST STORM EVER , three inches of rain in five minutes ! Coming in sideways, , But not a drop in my super cool tent ! Our last tent ,also North Face , lasted more then 20 years of heavy duty camping. NORTH FACE , THE ONLY SOURCE FOR DEPENDABLE, DURABLE , DELIGHT !

Few tent designs are as versatile as the Homestead Domey 3. It's a great "one-man-army" tent to have if your typical year has car camping in the spring at a wild and remote national park, then a summer music festival with your buds, and something like a canoe camping trip once fall sets in. It will handle all the duties you toss at it wonderfully thanks to the simple design, and looks awesome to boot. The Domey 3 is waterproof, like any good tent should be, has three full doors, and a mesh skylight that will let you gaze up at the starry night sky (which will leave you amazed every single clear night). Pair this tent up with its proper footprint (check out SKU NFCFPD3 on our site) and you'll be able to camp in the harshest of terrains.
