I am 5'9", 172 lbs, athletic build. I usually wear a Medium in MH jackets (large for shirts/pullovers). This jacket fit me really well but it is definitely an athletic/trim cut. I would not wear this as a stand alone piece because it hugged my body. I returned.

The sleeves are a bit wide at the bottom and the black part isn't as soft. Other than that it's warm, with pockets and nice looking.

Great cold weather jacket, when combined with a windproof/waterproof shell it is warm in freezing temperatures with precipitation.

I love the fit and feel of the jacket, however I haven't gotten to use it yet, because it's summer in Houston. I can see how it wouldn't be very wind proof but man I bet its warm on brisk fall mornings, or awesome coupled with a hard shell. I only gave it a 4 out of 5 because I haven't gotten to use it yet.

I love this jacket. It is definitely a layering piece; but it would be great on its own to be worn on a more cooler day. I went to the coast and although I was warm with this jacket, I could definitely have used an outer shell to walk around more without feeling too cold. Overall, however, it is a great piece!

I've only worn it for a few days however I am impressed so far. I didn't think it would be nearly as warm as it is. It's actually very warm, although not sure how it would stand up to wind. That being said, worn under a shell it would make the perfect mid layer. The sleeves seem a bit long though, not sure why the design allowed for such long sleeves, but if I find out I will pass it along!

Wore my Monkey Man fleece in the low 40's a couple of nights. It is a close fit versus a loose fit jacket, which kept me toasty yet didn't feel stifling. I will be using this also as a mid-layer in cold weather, but haven't tried it out for that yet. The only negative is that my wife is trying to steal it from me.

I've had this for over a decade now, use it every winter and have had it with me pushing 1000 miles on the trail. It is the best middle layer I've found, incredibly versatile in different weather conditions. Perfect for camp and makes an amazing pillow. I'm just now starting to see wear in the cuffs but with judicious washing it maintains it's loft as a middle layer. Zippers have always been perfect and after more than 10 years I still haven't seen any stretching. It's spent time under pack weight with straps and shows no sign of shoulder strap or hip belt wear.This was my first MH product, purchasing a mummy bag as my second this year. It's just that durable -- never needed to replace it.

Let me first point out that this jacket is not for cold/windy weather. If you lift up the jacket to the light, you can see the light coming through the fabric....making it "breathable". Thus, it will not block wind. I find it warm enough to wear with the temperatures around 57F~52F, with just t-shirt underneath(not doing any kinds of activities). I wore this on my usual weekend hike up the mountain, with temperature near 35F. It was cold at the beginning(even with long sleeve underneath), but after a brisk 30 minute hike, I started to sweat a little. I could feel the difference in "breathability" compared to my other jacket and this monkey man fleece. I didn't need to remove the monkey man, and my sweating was dramatically reduced.....not to mention that sudden gush of wind felt nice and cool! ^^ P.S. Beach is very chilly at night time in L.A...especially during winter. I simply layer it with thick long sleeve shirt along with my monkey man, and I'm good to go!! ^__^

this thing is awsome im 5'8" and the medium fits good i have a +3 ape index so the long sleeves are perfect. as for the no thumb holes i had a tailor put them in and a waist bungie cord for like $20

Owned a monkey man previously for 3 years until my chocolate lab puppy decided it would make a good chew toy. Found out that I will be relocating to Scandinavia for a year. I decided it was time to buy another one to survive the frigged winters. Hopefully this is as good as my last one. Its ultimate test was a winter fly fishing/backpacking trip with lows in the teens. Kept me toasty the whole trip....only downside is not wind protection. Cuts right through you so make sure you have a good shell if its gona be windy.

This item was well designed for both style and functionality. It is warm and comfortable. However, it was never intended to be a wind stopper.
