So far the Far Out 2 seems be durable, and the quality of materials is good. It sets up easily, I like how the two main poles are connected at the intersection as it's easier to maneuver alone as opposed to two separate poles. I used this tent for two nights car camping, then took it on a 4 night backpacking trip in Sleeping Giant Provincial Park. There is plenty of room inside, and the vestibules are large enough that I could store my 75L backpack, hiking boots, and camp shoes under one side and nothing got wet. The mesh is heavy duty and doesn't feel like it would tear easily. The rainfly water resistance is good with heavy rain, although as expected heavy dew does saturate it. The doors are good sized, the zippers seem like they'll last a while, and the internal pockets are well placed. My only real complaint is that I don't think there's a hook/loop to hang a light from, although a headlamp or small lantern can be placed in the upper mesh pocket.

Out of the box this is a very nice looking tent, plenty of room for me (6'5) width wise and just enough in the length to sleep comfortably. The seams and materials look and feel quality. I particularly like the quick setup and the fact that there is an included ground cloth (though depending on how much it adds to the price a plastic tarp would work just as well). It's a bit heavier than my normal hammock setup for backpacking but I think it will be great for my intended use for shorter alpine backpacking trips

This tent survived me 3 months camping. I have no complaints. One of the 2/20 tents to survive being on a hilltop during a lightning storm in thunder basin. Never flooded or collapsed. Only thing is the poles bent a bit from the wind but held up much better than they should've

I just got back from a 6 day backpacking trip around the bottom of the Grand Canyon. This tent work well for me and my adult daughter. We enjoyed opening the flap at night to see the stars. The vestibules were very nice for keeping boots and hiking poles at night. It could have more storage flaps inside but the two worked well that are there. It is very easy to set up and tear down and constructed well while being relatively lightweight. The steaks could be better but worked.

Easy to put up and take down ! A little difficult to put in stuff sack but I am sure with practice it will get easier !!

It's sturdy and the ability to put the fly down without getting out is great. Fairly lightweight, although I wouldn't want it for long distance backpacking trips. The stargazing mesh is good too. Easy to set up, although parts of the instructions aren't relevant to the particular model, which is a little confusing. It's a good size for me, my pack, and my dog. The awnings are a good size and the double doors are convient. The stakes are terrible and bend if you try to put them into hard ground but easily replaced and a very small part of the product. 4.5 stars.

It took me a long time to choose a new tent for the summer. My choice was between this and Sierra Design Meteor 2. Finally, the choice was made, thanks SunnySports for decent price offer and services ;) and the product was tested. What I liked: - Internal volume. - Footprint is an included option. - Tent colors. - Stargazing option. - Wind resistance. What I did not like: - The declared weight does not correspond to reality, the total weight with 2 additional pegs is ~2600 g. At that weight, I would never buy it. - The floor length is 210 cm not as declared 214 cm, and its tight. This was also a criterion when choosing. I am a tall person. At that floor length, I would never buy it. Width approx 124cm, is ok for me as a solo hiker. - Not a complete set of pegs, this tent needs 2 extra pegs for stability. - Pegs color, easily lost in last year's grass (I already lost one). - The color of the pouches can also be easily lost as they blend into the grass. - Easy to install. I have not yet got used to quickly installing and disassembling it, after three nights in mountains. - The non-removable hub, which still bothers me, I'm afraid that the tubes may not be installed correctly and break. Tip: You can use a gear tie accessory to fix the cross bar, this will also increase the wind resistance.

My first experience with this tent was from this April 21st till the 23rd. I stayed in three National Parks in Pennsylvania. Temperatures were 32 to 57 Fahrenheit and it rained a few nights. Except for the normal condensation any tent would have in these temperatures the tent performed perfectly! It's a bit more complicated to set up then let's say the Discovery 2 but I really wanted two doors and this tent for the bill for price and quality. The pegs, piles and materials are all of excellent quality. You could get a lighter tent but would pay double or triple just to reduce the 6 lbs by 1.5 to 2 lbs. I know have several tents and this one fits in well for motorcycle camping trips when I want to reduce my overall pack volume and weight. I like the spacious vestibules and the ability to roll back a section on the fly. Overall I like this tent and would recommend it.

Haven't tried it yet on a trip, but did set it up outside and wow, the extra headroom it allows will be so comfortable when I do use it in the near future.

I really love the concept of the Backroads Shelter and would like to have given it 5 stars. My concern with the design is the fear of tearing the fabric when opening/closing our sliding side door of a Sprinter van. Perhaps it works better if a roof rack is used to hold the shelter in place. Or maybe I?m using it wrong. Anyway, to open the door, an object was needed to hold up the side of the fabric so that the door had clearance and wouldn?t catch or scrape the fabric. I?m going to toy around with it, perhaps try a swim noodle on the roof to given it height. Tried it on the back of the van and opening the doors caused the same problem of rubbing against the material. Might need tennis balls on the corners of the doors. Everything else about it is wonderful, we will work with it to get it right for our needs. Thank you!

Simple to setup, with more coverage than expected. Gives a little privacy and protection when needed. But I would recommend setting up before your 1st adventure to determine how to snug to your vehicle. For example, I'll use strong magnets to attach a ground covering and get some additional straps for around tires to secure flaps. Will also add some foam corner protectors to keep opened doors from snagging top.

This is the second Kelty Shelter I have purchased (The Waypoint is the other). I used the Backroads for the first time this weekend and was impressed. The shelter is easy to set up with one person and provides excellent shelter. The attachment to the side of the car also allows me to use the Waypoint at the same time, increasing the coverage area around my car. It was windy and rained, and the Backroads held up to everything thrown at it.

Thrilled with my purchase of the backroads shelter. It is an easy, adaptable set-up, with the familiar superior quality which Kelty is known for.
