The last Camelbak Rouge I had it was much easier to take bladder out to fill or clean. This one has elastic at the top making it difficult to remove bladder. I use this Rouge 3. to 5 times a week. I volunteer with veterans support groups, Project Hero San Diego, Balboa Naval Medical Center, and SoCal Handcyclist. You can view on Facebook.

This hydration pack is perfect for riders that prefer a less bulky/lighter backpack. It still offers enough room for the essential tools, pump, tube and wallet/keys/phone.

Using primarily for road/TT bike. Pros: lightweight, quality build (as it is common for Camelbak products), it surprisingly stays in place without a waist strap (I expected this to be an issue). Although originally concerned about the minimal pocket space, I am able to carry all necessary tools, spares, etc., Overall, it exceeded expectations, for the most part. Potential improvements: it does not insulate as well as other Camelbaks (I guess at the cost of making it lighter weight; in South FL, I would have preferred better insulation (I currently have to add more ice to keep those last sips still cold)). Although it surprisingly stays in place better than expected (particularly on TT position), I would like to have the waist straps added for improved position retention. A design for a smoother aero profile would be great (many years ago they had a model (I believe called Rocket) which had a much smoother aero profile for a TT position. I know! most riders stick with bottles, but when you go long and hard in South FL heat, that ice-cold water in my Camelbak makes all of the difference! Gear pocket could be improved, but is not as bad as I thought it would be. There are two (the main at the bottom, and one on the upper cover) It is truly not 5 stars given the suggested improvements I mentioned, but gave it 5 as it exceeded expectations based on what I had learned from pics, marketing, and other reviews. I hope this helps!!

This backpack is exactly what I was looking for. It is comfortable to wear and lightweight even when it’s full. Opening is large enough for oversized ice cubes. The 2.5 liter size held enough water for a 5 mile hike, During high heat and humidity in Florida, over a 2-hour period. Highly recommend!!

I've used many different kinds of CamelBaks. I use my Rogue for paddle boarding. I've had the same one for three years. The straps are comfortable and do not chaff. The sternum strap is great. The storage areas are small but useful. Yeah you have to be careful to screw the top closed. It's not that hard. I don't have any problem with locating the drinking tube.

I use mine 4-6 days a week as I work long day’s outside. I can always have water to drink even when I’m isolated. I also carry a couple packs of tuna and a plastic spoon in the upper pocket. The bottom pocket can hold a protein bar or other snacks for ‘just in case’ scenarios when it may be awhile before I get to take a break. Overall very pleased. I’m not knocking it any stars for being a little uncomfortable after 14 hours because I could’ve spent a little more and got a pack with padded straps, that’s on me. A lot of the negative reviews on here are user error.

This is the perfect size bag. A great amount of water (2.5L or 2/3rds of a gallon) in a bag small enough to not be too cumbersome, but that has plenty of storage room for a day trip/overnight campout/long hike. (For me it fit 2 iPhone X, a small first aid kit, my keys and wallet.) The reservoir seals well and easily and the valve to stop flow on the mouthpiece is sturdy - won't slip on accident.

I haven’t used it yet! That’s the only reason I’m giving it a 4 star rating. I have another camelbak that served me well so I have no doubt this one will too.. But I must say, it’s awesome. The color is super cool and the material seems like it’ll be easy to clean if it gets dirty. I plan on taking it with me to the next time I go to a festival or on a run. The compartments are a decent size. It has enough space to hold a portable charger, a small roll of toilet paper or wipes, keys, chapstick, tampons, wallet, a small flashlight, gum, a small tube for pills, headphones, etc.

You guys. It’s a great pack. Simple. Light. Plenty of storage for my big ol phone which is awesome for Bluetooth. Quite enjoy running without phone in pocket. Separate pocket for key wallet shannanigans. Sleek design. Only mild weird get used to it deal is the drink hose is kinda long but big whoop. Tuck it and roll. Anyone who complains about it not being large enough should just use a backpack. This is frigin perfect if you’re searching for a camelbak. Get it.

The water reservoir is more than enough for long rides. The mesh is breathable and comfortable. There are enough pockets for my keys wallet and phone. I really appreciate the quality and thoughtfulness of this product.

Been using camelbaks since they were introduced. The idea to increase capacity to 85oz was a huge plus for me. The redesign not so much. The bladder cap is always a hit or miss screw on. You have to get it just perfect in order to thread. The handle does make it a bit easier to hold but it could’ve been a tad longer. How the pack holds on to the bladder could stand to be less precarious and cleaner looking once secured. Had the ability to use a different size bladder like the 70oz would have been nice but the hable securing is not universal. Overall a decent minimalist pack. Decent water capacity and just enough tools to get you back. I also use the 100oz ratchet.

I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend and he loves it ! we did not realize how much we were missing this product in our lives. great to take with you just about anywhere and much better than lugging around a big water bottle.

I love this camelbak! Everything is great about this camelbak except for one thing! The straw is pretty long and will not shorten.. I wish I could push it in the camelbak to have it closer to my mouth but it stays at its long length! They should make it adjust to how far you want it!

At first glance it may seem that it has much room for snack and extra clothes ect. but after looking at the pockets more thoroughly it was clear that the 5L bag size was a misleading statement. The largest compartment is completely taken up by the bladder and the “Tool” compartment could fit maybe a few granola bars. The largest storage space that isn’t taken up my water storage is in between the tool holder and the main pocket exposing it to the elements and making it nothing more that a space to put rain gear or waterproofed lunches in case it rains. Even though there are many flaws I would recamend this pack to some one just needing it for a days hick or a bike trip. The price is a little steep but with big name brands like Camelbak that’s what to expect.

For me it's a pretty decent product at a good price. Comfortable and seemingly durable. I've done about 500 trail miles with this back and it's been great. It's been through snow and hailstones and come out fine. Water hose fits in side clip, no problem. I actually clip shut the chest strap and tuck the water hose under that rather than the side clip. Makes it easier to grab when needed. In the two pockets of this bag I carry a puncture kit, tyre levers, a small torque allen key tool, gel packs, antiseptic spray and plasters. I can fit my phone in, some cash and a card but with everything else a wallet is a bit tight. I can also fit a slimline spare tube in the mesh part and still carry 2 litres of water. The spout works fine thought it did take a bit of getting used to, especially when climbing hills and drinking... I forgot to breath :-) The only issue is trying to keep the bladder clean, it's a bit of a pain getting it out of the bag, most of the time I rinse and dry it in place.

I bought this a month ago and I'm so hapy that I did! It has been absolutely perfect! Great features and the storage is just right for a two to six hour outing in my opinion.

This was my intro to CamelBak. My husband has a decade-old daypack that I’ve never used, and he recently bought this pack. I took it out today for a trip to the county fair with our 4 year old. It was plenty of water for the 3 hours we were there. It did take a little effort to get the full bladder into the bag, but again, my first time using a hydration pack. I put a small first aid kit in the lower pocket with a few packs of individual wrapped hand wipes. In the top, I had a small container of almonds, and pack of cookies, and my external battery pack/phone cord. If I didn’t have the stroller with me to carry an change of clothes, and a pocket for my phone, I’d definitely want a larger pack.

If you like the old Rogue, you can still buy it under the name Velocity at Dick's sporting goods (70oz capacity. Exact same product, different name. I just bought it on sale for $39.95. (this is my second one since I like them so much)
