First trekking poles I've owned. They have met expectations. I have had no issues with them. Exceed expectations needed to receive 5 star.

Without these poles, I would have been DUNZO, with just 2.6 miles left in the 50 miles. I could not bend my right knee and the downhill was relentless! These poles, so conveniently packed away for almost 48 miles, were my literal crutch to the end. Thank you! I LOVE these poles!

Keep the arms swinging and moving fast with little extra weight. I've been against poles my whole life for activities outside of skiing. These changed my opinion, due to their light weight. While not a full convert, when I want to use poles for getting out there, these are what I grab as they pack small, don't add much weight and provide support when I want/need it.

Used section hiking the Connecticut AT. Sturdy and dependable, yet light and folds down to fit in pack.

I used to laugh when I saw people using these things. Fast forward 25 years. These equal 4 wheel drive when loaded down. They're very light in the hand and the adjustability is welcome when the grade is substantial up or down.

Love these poles. The button is a bit tight to close them, but I like that better than not having any button. I think it makes them so much more secure. The handles and straps are very comfortable. Really like that they come with two sets of tips.

Light, fold up nicely, easily adjustable, and so far have held up well. Thus far they've saved me from going down a few times, which is greatly appreciated.

I used these poles to walk the entire 800 k of the Camino Frances in 2019. Excellent pokes and will be using them on the West Coast Trail this summer. Worth the money.

These are quite impressive. They're well-balanced and super-light. Since they're new to me, I do wonder about the durability, but history with BD's lightweight gear is pretty good, and I don't tend to be abusive with my gear. They're easy to adjust and they fold up quickly and compactly.

Perfect for traveling. Very light and compact, but held up for 14 miles in the Grand Canyon.

They feel like you are holding nothing they are so light. When collapsed they fit inside a day pack easily. Comfortable grip.

You hardly know that you?re holding them. The adjustable length is key. I wanted the simplicity of a fixed length pole but find I really appreciate changing the length depending on the steepness of the terrain.

Used this to save my knees and a recent Grand Canyon Rim2Rim2Rim trip. I thought they'd be in my pack for most of the trip, but instead I carried them the whole time in my hands. When I didn't need them, I just had one in each hand and loved how well balanced and light they felt. When I did need them for steep up and down, they were quick to deploy and the multiple hand grip options meant my hands never got tired and I never got the feared "inside thumb" blister.

I lost one of my Trekking Poles while training for the AT next spring. I emailed customer service to find out if I could purchase one pole to replace the lost one. I was told they only sell in pairs but offered me a 40% off coupon on a new pair. Never been happier with a company! Thanks Black Diamond!!!

Took these to hike Arizona. Folded up neatly; opened easily. Bore lots of wt on these and had many rocky, sleep up and down trails. If I did not have these, I'd be sunk! Sturdy as all get out. loved the wrist holders. Fended off critters; poles gauged water crossing depth, and helped carry me up and down many deep hills with big gnarly rocks. if you think poles are for the feeble; think again. More stress points better. Easier on your knees, especially if you are carrying heavy pack. But practice with them first! Used pointed ends for gravel and rocks; lost rubber "feet" for ends. Considered weapons by TSA, so fold them up, rubber band together and put in your pack or in my case, luggage, so you don't get dinged. Although light, they held my 118 lbs. Leaned on them a lot. Would recommend to anyone but a bit pricey.

These were a Christmas present for my wife. I know, I'm quite the romantic, right? But these are something we have talked about for a couple of years--a little safety for trail running. So she is very happy with them. She hasn't used them yet, but I'm sure they will be perfect for her.

Bought in July 2020, and used on 3 hikes to three different 14ers in Colorado (Mt. Sherman, Gray's Peak and Mt. Bierstadt, plus 2 more acclimatization hikes. The trekking poles are exceptionally well-built, very light, stiff shafts and grip that fits my hands (I am 5ft 4in tall male). Highly recommended. Expensive, but you will get what you pay for. These are less than half the weight of my older trekking poles.

First of all, I can't say how much I love this poles. Black Diamond has really nailed it here. I am a restless person that probably walks and runs way to much, no matter conditions and terrain. My back isn't the best though, so sometimes everything just says "stop" and I have to haul myself back home. And this is where the FLZ-poles proves like an amazing friend every time. When they're not in use, they're so small and lightweight that you can't notice them. And when you need them, they really feel sturdy and safe. BD had a model which was, I think, discontinued i 2017 and replaced by this one. This is both stronger and stiffer and feels better overall. The FlipLock system is easy to handle and works perfect. 20cm of adjustability is a great bonus, but I guess most people doesn't just the whole range. The grip is also really good, and feels comfortable in your hands. To all of those who are worried about broken poles, and I can just tell you that BD has a fantastic customer service. I've had two broken poles through many years and hikes, and both times they sent a new one. So if you experience a broken pole, please don't start nagging about the quality. Contact BD and listen hear how they can help you. The poles are definitely worth it First of all, I can't say how much I love this poles. Black Diamond has really nailed it here. These poles are great - lightweight, great length, and break down into a packable size. However, I STRUGGLE to get the button pushed in that allows the poles to break down. I wish I could loosen them!!

I was concerned about the durability of the great lightweight poles. Most of my walking is on rough terrain or cross-country. After more than 400 miles, including the John Muir Trail, Toiyabe Crest (partially a bushwack, and much cross-country in the norther Sierra Nevada, I love these poles. Great investment.

How to Use This Pole
By slcrhino
These carbon trekking poles have had mixed reviews mostly regarding their durability. So I thought to opt for the aluminum as a work-a-day pole as I get out quite a lot. But the carbon is so dang light… In the end, I decided to give carbon a try anyway. My experience has been great. These poles are indeed super light. And the transition between folded and extended is trouble free. And they stow super well with ultra vests. The poles were an experiment at first, but now are part of my standar...

Hiking Through the Vale of Geriatria
By ron m.
Ever since I began using a double ski pole system for virtually all the hiking I do (and long after those years when the tick-tick-ticking of trekking poles on the trails behind me first began to drive me nuts) these have become the single item I can go nowhere without. Take the pressure off your ankles; take the pressure off your back; and keep your arms strong. You just might be able to keep going... Compared to other poles I'd been using, whether simple old ski poles, fancy shock-absorber ...

Z-Pole Rapid Deployment System
Concealed inner cord
Single push-button release to collapse the pole
One-pull, Speed Cone deployment
Speed Cone technology comes from Black Diamond's expertise in avalanche probe design - a key component of Z-Poles' stiffness and fast deployment. Simply grab the grip and the first shaft section, and pull them away from each other. The pole will snap into place and lock. Each Speed Cone guides a shaft section into place, and stiffens the joint when the pole is locked. Protective, flexible tube ends cover the pole's Kevlar center cord when folded.
