Used on a trip to hike Morgan Peak in Mammoth CA. These hiking poles are light and love the packability. These poles save my knees when hiking down.

Easy to use, perfect length(I?m 5?4 and ordered the 105-125) and sturdy! The cork grips are perfect and I look forward to a summer trekking all over the state of CO with them.

I searched around for quite sometime for the right poles. These are them. They have an ability to easily adjust the height while tracking. Are perfect for tall people. I am 6'5 and had more room to extend. I am very happy with my purchase

I got these for hiking and trekking. I had hip surgery May 2020, and these poles have been perfect for helping me walk and hike with stability. The lock mechanism is pretty complicated IMO and I was almost going to return them as I could not figure it out. But I did finally!

I bought these before my partner and I headed out to Zion, Bryce and Grand Canyon National Parks. We tried them out at our local park, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, on some icy trails and they worked great. They performed as expected, not to weighty and easily pack down into a carry-on bag.

I used it them to hike the Grand Canyon from rim to rim to rim. They have a great range for adjusting the height for going up and down the canyons. They Collapse to a small package and easily stowed in the side pouch of any waking back

They collapse and assemble very easily for packing in baggage and were very light in the hand and on the pack. Neither of us had any issues with the poles falling apart and they definitely put up with the beating we put them through. We used them in snow, up steep inclines, and declines, with the need for quick assembly and disassembly while trekking they performed great!

I Bought these a few months ago and have loved them. they pack down very small, are lightweight, feel awesome in the hand, and have a great range of adjustability These poles saved my life last week from a nasty fall which would've otherwise sent me soaring down a roughly 1,000 ft icy and rocky slope to a sheer drop. Wearing 48lbs of gear, I dug the poles in and they arrested my fall. One of the poles bent, and BD is sending me a brand new replacement set free of charge. With how hard the fall was I cant believe they didn't snap. I'm very happy with how strong these poles are. and very happy at their warranty they provide on all their gear. Two big thumbs up.

I have had these polls for about a month now and have gotten several long runs in with them. I own several pairs of polls form DB and I love the way the Z-pols collapse and fit in my pack. I also like the fact that the Alpine came with powder baskets witch I will be using this winter.

I have been using these poles all summer in Alaska for hiking and backpacking and they have held up really well. They have kept me stable in boulder fields, crossing streams, and have saved my knees on the downhill. They even keep my tent up!

These poles were awesome! Love how they break down to fit nice in my bag for checking luggage on airplane. Just got back from 10 days at Glacier National Park. Hiked 61 miles with these poles. Challenging hikes like Sperry Chalet to snow hikes which involved crampons, to easier hikes like Iceberg Lake. Poles held up well!!!

Good pole standing up to the beating I put into it and collapses super small. Not as strong as non-z poles, but good enough. Like the adjustability + z-pole style.

I love BD gear and apparel. I own and use a lot of it, for backpacking, camping, climbing, alpine/snow/glacier travel, and all the vertical training to support these outings. These BD Alpine FLZ poles deliver all the features I've come to require: they stow well, they are adjustable, the are strong and reliable. They include snow baskets, cork handles, good wrist straps and generous carbide tips for sticking into rock. I will only ever use z-fold poles, as the pack small inside my pack and deploy really fast. I require adjustable poles for two reasons; max power going up (shorter and more reach/balance on the descent (longer). Additionally, couple of my lighter shelters use poles in lieu of tent poles, so my trek poles need to adapt. The handles, materials and straps on the Alpine FLZ are the best of all options on the market, and this is key to me as the interface to my poles. Cork is the best when I am not wearing gloves. These grips extend down a hand-width when I need to shorten them quickly, or for just a manuever/a few steps. I weight the straps, too, to reduce reliance on my hands' grip. I appreciate the tips; carbide bites into rock and boulders with a confident hold, and I interchange baskets so I don't "post-hole" the pole... These are light poles, but they could be lighter by utilizing some carbon fiber section(s). That's the trade-off BD and I both made to get strength and reliability along with all my other requirements. Oh, and these are on the spendy end of the spectrum... but experience shows I'd rather invest once... (my REI z-fold adjustable carbon poles broke, and no warranty after 12 months... my gear should last 5-7 years). Conclusion: very happy. Stoked, even. Excuse me, I'm headed out and up a mountain tonight. Enjoy!

I had the older version of these poles and found the new updated ones to be more streamlined. The bottom locking buckle is now a slider which is easier to lock/unclock and much quick to fold/unfold. The leashes are a bit tighter which make it a bit harder to put my hands through them when using gloves but it's not that bad. My favorite aspect about these poles is the short profile when they are folded, very easy to get them in a pack on a summit push when the climbing gets steep. They are not the lightest poles around but the alternative would be to go for the carbon ones which are feather lite but not as durable as these ones.

My non collapsible Black Diamon Trekking Poles, whihc I love, collapsed to 26 inches and wouldn't fit into the suitcase I wanted to take to Zermatt Switzerland. These collapsible jobs were a little difficult to learn how to reconfigure but once you get the hang of it they are no problem. These were a life saver for the first two days of just trekking around Zermatt, the Matterhorn Glacial Palace, etc. They were exactly what I needed and no problems so far.

All trekking poles do about the same job with equal ability. So what makes these special? Collapsibility and weight. These poles break down easily and small to fit in a pack. I am very happy with them.

I am not as stable as I once was !!! Walk with confidence anywhere !!! Hunting or just walking !!! They are a great assist in going up hill or down , ANYWHERE !!!

I purchased the Alpine FLZ Trekking Poles for a wilderness adventure in October 2018. Although I have experienced wilderness adventures often in my life I felt the need at an age of 68 in just as few weeks, to have support while backpacking. I had never purchased trekking poles before and had not used them. My experience with my Black Diamond poles could not have gone better. They helped me to be more stable and secure. Thank you Black Diamond for your suggestion on what poles to purchase as well as sizing me perfectly. I look forward to these poles lasting for many more mountain trips.

These are good poles but there are not as good as Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork which around the same price. There was a small bit of play in the pole when you wiggled the pole and a small amount of elasticity when walking on soggy/sticky ground when your pulling the pole out. Otherwise it is a very good walking pole. Unless the collapsible length is a must, then I would say your money would be better spent on the Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork which from use is a fantastic pole.

All that trekking poles should be. Nice to have that strong shaft, comfortable with with the cork handles and quality straps. Light weight appreciated... can't be much lighter and still be this strong. Will be using these on future treks... they were great in the Dolomites this summer. Would have liked to have had a bag to put the folded stocks into... Black Diamond, at this price is this too much to ask of an excellent company like yours?

These are my go to poles for hiking, backing and scrambling in the Sierra. You can dial in the length without worrying about them sliding shorter. The grip is comfortable. They are light. They fold up small and fit in my summit pack when I don't need them anymore.

Great Trekking Poles for Approaches
By TrailTrotter
I've used these Alpine FLZ folding poles on 8 Pacific NW hikes now. They are easy to extend and retract, have firm joints, and are compact and light. The grips and adjustable strap are very comfortable. I did a trial comparison with two similar folding Black Diamond sets (Distance Carbon Z and Distance FLZ) and the Alpine FLZ felt and performed much better for me in terms of grip, feel, tension, balance and stiffness. I found I like my poles to be stiff like these. I also preferred the comfor...

These polls literally saved my life
By Michael
I decided to cross Baron Creek May 19 2018. First part of the crossing was shallow out to a bar. The second part got waist deep. Huge rocks to step on. My footing was unsure. The water was literally pushing me away. I planted the polls in front of me and had my back to the rushing water. I made 1 step at a time and finally got to the other side. 1 issue - I had to cross back on the way back! Thank you polls, thank you earth.
