All around awesome, Beyond expectations in rain!

We've had our Copper Spur UL3 since 2020, for backpacking & some car camping and love it. We just returned from backpacking where we unexpectedly got caught in rain. Even after about 15 hours of a mix of thick drizzle and medium downpour, we emerged bone dry. The fly was completely soaked on the outside, but we had no problems with drips (water that got through seams channeled down the poles) or condensation.

Best tent in its class

For backpacking, this tent is a ten out of ten. Ultralight weight, high ceiling, two doors, interior mesh pockets everywhere. It has met, even exceeded, my expectations.

I Would But This Product Again and Again and Have!

I have always liked the Copper Spur HV UL. Always light and easy to set up. This new update is lighter than before and how they did it makes sense.

Copper Spur 3

We bought the Copper Spur 3 for a 2.5 month bike touring trip in Europe. The built in pockets inside make long term tent living much more organized. Our panniers fit under the vestibule easily and the ventilation is great. Tent is quick to put up and take down, and so far has performed well in bad weather. We are super happy with our purchase.

I would buy this product again.

I have been a fan of the Copper Spur HV UL3 for a long time. It is one of my favorite tents. This new update is impressive. Easier to setup, zips where you want them, and inside pockets just right.

Two person luxury

My wife and I have been using this tent for three years and love it. It's light yet has tons of room. The pockets and loft are super useful for stashing our necessities.

I absolutely love this tent for backpacking?so lightweight and easy to set up, and really keeps the elements out. It seems to hold up well also. It is my go to for everything.

Great versatility.

I originally got this for backpacking/hunting. It rains a lot in the PNW so even by myself, I want a place to keep gear out of the rain and I don't like being crammed into a "2 person" tent that only fits 1. I also use this when I go on Wildland fires. I love the versatility of this tent and it still being able to pack down small. If it's hot/dry, I open up zippers. If it cool and wet, I don't. There's plenty of space under the vestibules to put by dirt boots and pack. I sleep on a low cot and there's room for it as well. If we go backpacking, there room for both of us and the pups but not a lot extra (dogs are large breed). Even with all of that different use, it's held up great. I would, and have, recommended this tent to others.

Great ultralight tent!

Great backpacking tent for our family of 3. A little snug, but it fits us fine, and that's the price you pay for such a light 3-person option. Fly is super modular, which is great. Good storage inside, and easy to set up. Lightweight zippers will start to fail after a couple seasons of normal use, but not too hard or expensive to get Big Agnes to repair them.

Best tent I ever have

Over the years we have used our Big Agnes many times a year. We are rafters and the BA (Big Agnes) has gone on all the adventures. It has rafted the Green and Colorado for many years. We are on our 2nd B.A. We always do a spring trip for a weekend to kick off the season and test the gear. This particular year we were on Ruby for the maiden voyage. Camped in one of the many sites. We had our B.A. and camp set up. Others had other brand tents up. If you have ever floated ruby in the spring, you know the winds can be horrific. We could hear the wind coming down the river, the panic set in. People ran for their tents as the other brands would end up in the river. We knew the B.A. would stand. We have put our B.A. through this so many times it has never failed. This tent has been through so many sand storms the zippers wore down. The material is still perfect. Sadly after 8 years of abuse and use the tent went to other uses covers the 4 wheelers in the winter and we welcomed our new B.A

I've taken it on numerous shorter backpacking trips as well as some multi-night trips to Halape and Kalalau. This tent has held up well - no leakage or any problems. Well worth the investment.

Have to think twice about the purchase

Wanted a tent that was roomy enough for my hiking partner and our respective dogs. This had good reviews, plenty of room, and good pack weight to warrant giving it a go. If I recommended this tent, it would be with some caveats. I love the room-- the weight to space is awesome - lots of room in the vestibules for packs and boots. We figured out to sleep with our heads in the narrow part, and left more room for the big dogs. My biggest beef is the fragile fabric. I know it's supposed to be light weight, but I have to use extreme caution. The first outing, the tent got struck by a falling branch, and it split the fly, giving it about a 3" rip. I use a ground sheet both under and inside of the tent because of the dogs. Even with that protection, the fabric still split about 12" on the floor. We had to piecemeal the pieces of tenacious tape along the split so it didn't tear more during the trip. Bottom line- I like everything about this tent except its fragility.

Copper spur 3 Sheep hunts

Use the copper spur 3 sheep hunting Alaska several years now. Light weight to pack and keep dry. Has done well in the wind. I'm 6'7 and still fits me well with a partner. Easy set up. Great product.

Best tent - punches well above it's weight class

Easily the most lightweight, comfortable, well thought out and easy to use tent on the market. The geometry of the walls gives it way more space on the inside than tents that have larger foot prints - as I found out this winter using a 3 season+ MSR tent that should have been bigger according to the floor measurements, but felt much smaller. Even when I'm camping with my two dogs and my girlfriend, we all have plenty of space. Yeah, this is a "3 season" tent. But you can easily use it in winter in the right conditions (ie: not in a storm, or below 0 degrees). Used it this March for some mellow snow camping and it was great. The features are all well thought out. It's easy to set up even with one person, the stakes it comes with are awesome, the tensioners on the guy lines are intuitive and easy to use compared to others. The pockets are large, well placed and plentiful. And if you want to save weight when it's gonna be warm or no weather, you can pair this tent down. What's not to like? I literally can't think of anything that could be improved without breaking the laws of physics. Buy it.

great ultra light tent

We bought this tent to use it in our trekkings because it's pretty light and spacious for two persons (we bought a 3 person tent). Easy to set up with plenty of space inside and below the two vestibules.

Lightweight, very easy to put up and take down. I liked the pockets on inside of tent and the locking clasps for rainfly tie downs. Good zipper design.

Love it!

Love it! Finally pulled the trigger on this one as an upgrade from our old heavy 2 person and so glad we did! It's lighter weight, easy to set up, stood up well to a pop up thunderstorm/crazy wind on our recent backpacking trip and is spacious enough for 2 adults, an 80lb Labrador and our backpacks inside with lots of well placed pockets. Would recommend!

Great tent

great ultralight tent. I upgraded to this tent to accommodate my husband and dog - it's a fantastically made tent and kept us dry during a terential downpour. The tent is light and the orange is easy to find.

8 years later, I love this tent.

I'm closing in on a decade with this tent and we love it. Used it from the Chilkoot Trail to Hawaii Beaches. It has performed in driving rain, blowing sand, and held up about 5 inches of snow in a surprise dump. Have always paired it with the footprint. About 2 years ago the internal cords in the poles lost elasticity. I replaced the bungee cord and essentially have brand new poles. I've used spray coating about every other season on the fly. At 5 lbs packed (circa 2015 tent) I know of few products that offer the quality, weight, and accommodation of this tent. Two dogs in the middle, two of us, and any gear under the vestibule. It's cool to have this perspective on this tent. 8 years and no zipper failures or jams, no tears, no leaks, just one of the strongest performing pieces of outdoor products I have.

Stay dry even in heavy rain!

Many excellent things about this tent but the best is that we stay dry in downpours! The fly stays off the tent when staked down at all points keeping us dry inside. Tent is lightweight, too! We had 3 copper spurs on a trip to Mammoth and the entire family loves them.

First Winter Overnight 8 Months Old

We upgraded our tent this year from a 2 person to 3! Levi took his first winter overnight camping trip with mom and dad in our new Copper Spur HV UL3. The Copper Spur has never let us down! Weight and durability are extra important when you are backpacking with an infant. Roomy for all three of us and dependable in the snow.

Glamping for two in the wilderness

We've used this tent for the last couple of seasons and love it for it's light weight, easy packability, quick set up and tear down, protection from bugs, and space. So much space for the weight. Split between two people, it is as light as most 1P tents but has tons of space for the two of us and lots of gear. Being able to easily sit up and move around in the tent is a real luxury that doesn't have to be sacrificed due to weight. The vestibule style fly makes it really versatile in terms of getting the right amount of ventilation and coverage for the conditions at hand. Reconfiguring if it starts raining or to open up and see the stars is super easy.

Love this fantastic tent

I absolutely love this tent. As far as backpacking tents go it's a palace. It is also extremely light and packable. I usually pack the tent and poles separately to maximize on pack ability but either way amazing!

Just About Perfect

Have only car camped in this so far, but in the hand it feels like a great balance of durability and low weight! Coming from a 7 year old Copper Spur UL 2P, this is a noticeable upgrade. Love the storage options inside the tent, the amazing stakes, and the relatively generous interior dimensions. I'm excited to get out backpacking with the family and the new tent this season. Minor gripes include a stuff sack that is a bit too small (copper spur was perfect), and no footprint included.

Absolutely would buy again and again

I have this tent, with 2 different rain flys. I use one car camping, and the other one hiking or motorcycle camping. it packs nicely, obviously lightweight, and small packing, so it fits easily on in the luggage of my bike. Love it.

Good Tent, Not Perfect

The good: Lightweight, easy to set up, lots of storage pockets (which was awesome), roomy interior, good size vestibule, and the fly kept the rain out. The not-so-good: When entering or exiting the tent after a rain, I got soaked every time I moved the fly out of the way. One time I got rainwater all over me, my sleeping bag, my pillow, and some of my (previously dry) clothing. Because the fly is designed to convert to an awning, the door does not pull all the way to the side and not getting wet is a challenge. Also, on the first day using the tent, the plastic clip the pole fits into broke. This clip is not a user replaceable part, so the whole tent will have to be sent back for repair. Creative field repair using duct tape and paracord saved the trip, but if you're going to use plastic parts, they should be replaceable by the user.

Wow ! What a tent !!!

Holy !! What a difference from my MSR tent. I used to be scared of rain when I was camping. So I looked at other tents and discovered Big Agnes and had the luck to get my hands on one. Used it for the first time a week ago for a canping trip and we got hammered with rain. Like not just a little, pure heavy duty rain storm every hours of the day and night. Water was actually flooding everywhere and even was running under the tent. The beauty of all this, we were totally dried. The tent was completely cover of dirt from the force of the heavy rain splashing on the ground. On top of that, the tent is very light compared to my old MSR elixir tent. Way more room inside as well. Big Agnes is worth every penny ! Highly recommend!!
