big up festivalThe Big Up Festival is a fun and colorful event in which a combination of art, education, and eco-awareness is showcased and encouraged. The event takes place every year and lasts for three days, taking place this year August 8-10. Each year a colorful new variety of musical artists, guest activities, and objectives compose the festival.

Another great perk to the experience is the fact the Big Up Festival is also a camping event. Situated on the sprawling grounds of Hemlock Hollow Farms, you are certainly encouraged to camp-out and enjoy the full experience of this three-day-long festival. However, you may have to ditch some typical camping notions and go with the flow of the festival. To help you on your way, here are some valuable tips for camping at the festival.

Follow the Rules

The foremost and best tip for any venue is to know and follow the rules. Not following the few rules the festival enforces could be the end of your trip. Much of the camping here is in somewhat close quarters with others. People will know if you break the rules.

Watch Personal Valuables

With so much going on and so many people around, it’s easy to lose track of your accompanying valuables. Consider using a carry-bag that can contain everything, and only bringing the essentials. No matter what, keep these things with you or in sight at all times. A buddy system with someone you trust can also help.

Every year, the event’s schedule is different. There is a lot of simultaneous action taking place all over the festival’s grounds at any one time. It can be easy to either miss a very desirable activity or become overwhelmed. Take some time before going to learn the schedule and know what your most desirable activities will be and when they take place. This helps to form a sort of schedule for sleep, bathing, eating, and the other life essentials.
