One of Scandinavia’s most endangered predators, the Arctic fox was once widely hunted for its fur. While demand for fur has decreased, the population of this species in Norway and Sweden remains critically low.

Their coats change color with the seasons, and they even build up an extra pad of fur on their paws during the winter to help them walk on ice and snow. Their superior hearing allows them to hear their prey moving underneath the snow. The male fox uses vocalizations and his tail to signal other foxes in the area that this territory is his, as well as to communicate with his mate. The song of the Arctic Fox is unique, somewhat like a combination of a puppy-like yip and a chicken cluck.

In this video, a pair of arctic roam this frozen land, hunting, playing, and even getting a surprise visitor.
