How would you like to go swimming through a rainbow? If you can get to this secluded spot at the right time of year, you can do just that. It’s not a trick of the light. The vivid hues seen in this video are all naturally occurring, a combination of native plants and rock that give the River of Five Colors its name.

From June through November, seasons changing from dry to rainy spurs the growth of bright red algae, adding to the brilliant color spectrum already present in the river. Located in a remote area near La Macarena, Colombia, the journey to the river can be a challenge, but well worth the once in a lifetime view of this colorful occurrence.
