For the 5th day of Christmas, we have something for the toes: cozy socks and gaiters to prevent feet from getting froze!
Socks

If the outdoorsman or woman on your list isn’t put off their camping and hiking by plummeting temperatures and snow drifts, at least make sure they stay toasty in the furthest reaches of their extremities with a quality pair or two of insulating socks. We particularly prefer SmartWool, whose wide array of socks are designed for all kinds of outdoor lovers, from trail runners to mountaineers. The important things to look for in a pair of insulating socks are stretch and flexibility, moisture-wicking and quick-drying properties, and reinforced toes and heels for a sock that will go any distance the man goes.
Gaiters

Snow pants are great for keeping snow out of your boots, but if the outdoorsman on your list doesn’t have or want any, get them a pair of snow gaiters instead. These protective pieces of footwear are designed to slide snugly over your boot with an adjustable strap, and cover your leg midway or up to the knee in a durable, waterproof material that hugs your leg tight and prevents any moisture from seeping in. Gaiters are great for rainy conditions as well, but your feet will get wet if they are dunked in water, so make sure to avoid those mud puddles!
