Ready to hit the road? How about using two wheel s instead of four? Bike enthusiasts can take advantage of a growing market of group tours, or you can strike out with a small posse of friends or family. However large your group or how long your ride, these four amazing cycling destinations will allow you to see the world on two wheels.

Galway, Ireland

Imagining wheeling through rolling green hills, peppered with ancient stacked-stone walls. Then, pop into the local pub for a pint of the black stuff (Guinness to you non-Irish folk). The Irish are known for their hospitality and relaxed outlook on life. Get in touch with the Emerald Isle like never before by cycling through this historic landscape.

Tasmania, Australia

Boasting little vehicular traffic, over 3200 km of coastline, stretches of untamed wilderness, and 17 national parks, Tasmania offers a huge array of variety for the two-wheeled traveler. From beaches to mountain ranges, you can literally experience all four seasons in just one day on this tiny island. You might even get to the see indigenous wildlife unique to this part of the world like the platypus, wallabies, and wombats.

Alaska, USA

A rustic landscape framed by rugged peaks, you can ride through the mountains of Alaska with relative ease. The roads cut through the mountains rather than climb them, so elevations are lower than you might suspect. Beautiful lakes, wildlife like caribou and moose, along with snow capped peaks make for a picturesque and memorable journey.

Southeastern Italy

Italy is so much more than just pasta. Rolling fields of sunflowers, trees bursting with olives, a culture rich in art and attitude – this country is a proud one. Lunch near trickling waterfalls or lush hillsides, then unwind with a glass of locally bottled wine. Italy will embrace you tightly and make you feel like one of the family.

Most countries offer bike rental as part of their tour packages so no need to bring your own. You can choose guided tours or just coast along at your own pace, exploring and absorbing all the local color you could wish to. What are you waiting for?
