The integration of technology and function in outdoor gear is getting ever more impressive with each passing day, and the latest and greatest example of this is the Power Practical PowerPot. This incredible device combines the necessary function of cooking — or at least boiling water — and charging electronic devices, which is becoming more necessary as our use of electronic gadgets evolves in this modern world.

It works by converting heat generated from the PowerPot into DC power. The PowerPot V Battery Bundle includes everything you’ll need to operate it, and every piece fits neatly inside when not in use for compact storage. The PowerPot itself is designed only for warming or boiling liquids, but the top also functions as a frying pan or serving bowl, so you actually can use it for cooking in the wilderness.

Along with the PowerPot comes a 3-foot USB cord that will channel the power from the source to your device. The cord is encased in flame-retardant materials, so you don’t have to worry about heat damaging the most important component of this kit. It includes several adapters so you can charge a variety of electronic devices, like iPhones, GPS, mp3 players, digital cameras, headlamps, fans, or speakers — whatever can be charged with a regular or mini-size USB.

Additionally, you’ll get a separate battery pack that acts as a backup power source for your devices, and of course it charges up via the PowerPot. Need to see what you’re doing in the dark? No worries, because this kit comes with a flexible-neck LED light strip that powers straight from the PowerPot as well!

Operation couldn’t be more simple: place the PowerPot over a heat source, whether it be the open flame of a campfire, a compact gas camping stove, or even a hot spring (this has been tested and works!), and fill at least halfway with water, soup, or other liquid you intend to boil. Then connect the included USB cord with the attached regulator that lets you know when electricity is being generated through a green LED indicator light. Once that lights up, you can connect it to virtually any device that needs charging, and as long as the PowerPot is warming a liquid, you’ll receive 5 watts of continuous power.

It is important to remember that the PowerPot can be damaged if it is operated without a liquid inside, so make sure you keep an eye on the water level if you’re allowing it to come to a hard boil. Provided you use it according to that one rule, you’ll get virtually limitless power from this compact, portable gadget while you enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee or chocolate under the stars. Check out these videos showing you what’s in the kit and a demonstration of the Power Practical PowerPot over an open flame.
