If you’re still not convinced that nature and life alway finds a way, consider this little oasis found in northern Spain’s Bay of Biscay. Known as Playa de Gulpiyuri, this inland phenomenon is the product of a series of underground tunnels carved about 40 meters in length by the saltwater of the bay to the little beach. Because the tide on the other side flushes the water that supplies the beach, Playa de Gulpiyuri gets waves and crashes around the rocks during high tide. It is a part of Spain’s Regional Network of Protected Areas, but it is also a popular tourist destination, so should you find yourself in the Bay of Biscay, it looks like a place definitely worth visiting.
