The Hawaiian Islands are certainly not lacking for hot spots, places you “just have to see” if you visit any or all of them. It’s almost superfluous to recommend “must-do” places to your friends if they’re going on vacation there, because it is likely they won’t have nearly enough time to cover the things they want to do! That being said, for those outdoorsy types vacationing on Kauai who want to get a real sense of the beauty that is the lush Hawaiian landscape, you would do well to check out Mount Olomana. It is actually a collection of three peaks that have come to be known collectively as Olomana, although the other peaks do have their own rightful names. Here you will embark upon a trail that spans 2.5 miles up the slope of the mount, gaining a stunning 1,642 feet in the process. Those vertical achievements will pale in comparison to the vistas you will be treated to upon summiting the peak, with complete views of the glittering turquoise sea and Kauai’s coastal towns, and of course, the ever-present green of life burgeoning from these magical, beautiful islands. Check out these kids’ journey to the top.
