San Francisco may be most well known for its trolley cars and sourdough bread, but if you haven’t ventured out to see the amazing wildlife there, you are definitely missing out on some of the best that the bay area has to offer. The Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge contains 30,000 acres of bay, salt ponds, salt marshes, mudflat, upland, and vernal pool habitats that are home to more than 280 species of native and migratory birds, as well as a vast array of plant species. Visitors to the area can enjoy nature at its finest throughout any of the 7 regions that comprise this Refuge, and hands-on educational opportunities encourage everyone to get involved in the preservation of these precious resources. Check out this comprehensive video of what awaits you when you visit the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge.
