Lake Tahoe is affectionately referred to as the “Jewel of the Sierras,” and you only need to spend a few days there to know why. Situated on the border between Nevada and California, it is the largest alpine lake in North America, and the second-deepest, right behind Oregon’s Crater Lake. Because of its location and climate, Lake Tahoe is a major tourist destination for all seasons of the year. Much of its reputation is based on winter skiing and summer fun in the water, but there are literally endless forms of outdoor entertainment to be found at this beautiful landmark. Mountain biking, hiking, camping, fishing — you name it, this is the place to do it. Take a look at this video to see why Lake Tahoe should be on your outdoor destination checklist!
