The Pacific Northwest holds some of the most dramatic and beautiful scenery for hiking ranging from coastal environments to old growth forests. Ten Falls Canyon Trail
Just outside of Salem in Silver Falls State Park is one of the most well known hikes in Oregon called the Ten Falls Canyon Trail. This well maintained bench-lined trail takes hikers not only through one, but 10 waterfalls over a 10.2 mile trek. The tallest waterfall measures in at over 178 feet, and several of them hikers can actually walk behind.
Eagle Creek Trail

Located near Cascade Locks and close to Portland is the Eagle Creek Trail. This trail can get busy on the weekends, but is one of the best day hikes in Oregon for not only waterfall viewing, but also incredible scenic shots of the Columbia Gorge. This trail is not for those who are scared of heights, but for those who love waterfalls, hikers have the opportunity to trek behind one that towers at 120 feet.
Tire Mountain
A little over 50 miles outside of Eugene sits Tire Mountain trail. This day hiking experience provides some of the best wildflower vantages in the spring. The 7.6 mile trail winds through a mixture of meadows and old growth forests, exploding with flowers in late May and early June.
Cape Perpetua

The Oregon coast holds incredible seaside hikes, but one of the best day hikes in Oregon on the coast is the Cape Perpetua trail. Part of the Siuslaw National Forest and just 2 miles from Yachats on the Central Oregon Coast, this trail lets hikers explore tide pools, look for whales and see sprawling views of the ocean. Start at the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center and explore out from there.
