Food is one of the best parts of camping — all the delicious tastes of home, but enjoyed in the beautiful setting of nature. While the extent to which people will go in making great camping meals ranges widely from fire-roasted hot dogs to savory dutch oven masterpieces, there are a few cool tricks that can blend the line between simple and elaborate with very little effort. Here are just a few cool tricks that will have you making easy camping meals with no sweat required!

Muffin Tin Eggs

This trick turns breakfast eggs into one of the best easy camping meals ever. The only tool you’ll need is one (or more, if you have a big camp) muffin tin. Spray your tin with non-stick cooking spray, crack an egg into each one, season with salt and pepper, and place the tin on the grill over a campfire. They only take a couple minutes to cook completely, but you can cook them a bit more or less according to your own liking. For extra flavor, try adding shredded cheese, diced onions or peppers, or even crunchy bacon bits for a real breakfast feel. Easy prep, and even easier cleanup — just wipe the cups out with a paper towel and you’re done!

Chili Cheese Pie or Tacos in a Bag

Yet another fantastic way to drastically reduce the prep and dishwashing elements of camping meals: make single serving meals in a bag! Although Fritos brand chips are pictured here and are a fan favorite for kids and adults alike, you can use any kind of chips you want. If you want chili cheese pie, simply heat the chili, add as much as you want to the chips, sprinkle shredded cheese, and dig right in with your fork or spork. For tacos in a bag, add lettuce, salsa, cheese, olives, ground beef, chicken, or anything you like to eat on a taco, and you’re good to go! The only thing you need to wash after is your utensil.

Aluminum Foil Pouch Meals

And for our final trick, we bring you the easiest of easy camping meals: aluminum foil pouch meals! There are endless combinations of ingredients you can put in your aluminum pouch to make a savory, filling meal. Just add sliced vegetables, like onion, carrot, potato, or cabbage, then add chopped beef, chicken, pork, or ground meat, a couple pats of butter, salt and pepper liberally, and any other seasonings or herbs you like. Then fold — not crunch — closed the ends of the pouch, place over coals (make sure they are not still flaming) for 30-40 minutes, and be sure to let cool for a couple minutes after you take it off before you enjoy your delicious, no-muss no-fuss pouch meal!
