The planet we live on is a beautiful, wondrous place. Although we keep searching, we’ve yet to find anything else in the universe that can compare to the outstanding environment found here on Earth. The abundance of life forms on our little blue globe is staggering, and the clues to how it is that life on this planet came to be the flourishing, vibrant existence it is today are still being pieced together in an infinite effort to understand our origins. A vast undertaking, but nonetheless fascinating in every way.
But in concentrating on so many details of life on Earth, and why and how it exists, it can be all too easy to forget to enjoy the forest for the trees, as they say. The ecological and biological functions of our planet are nothing less than mind-blowing, and the exquisite scenes created as they happen are truly something to behold. No man-made effect can come close to imitating the awesome power of nature, for there is no definitive way to predict just what it will do next.
