1. Lavender

Most people know lavender for its wonderful, calming fragrance, but lavender is also great for relieving numerous skin irritations. Use lavender for burns and to reduce the swelling of the irritated skin. Apply lavender topically to relieve irritation from all types of bug bites. It’s also been known to improve blood circulation and treat many respiratory problems.

2. Lemon Balm

Can’t sleep? Try lemon balm. It’s one of the common medicinal plants that is great for promoting relaxation, calming nerves, and reducing stress and anxiety. Lemon balm is also great for treating cold sores. It has a mild, lemon flavor that’s not quite as strong as the citrus fruit. So adding it to tea is ideal.

3. Blackberries

Comfrey is one of the common medicinal plants that are high in vitamin C and calcium. It’s known for promoting the healing of bruises, wounds, joint inflammation, and even broken bones. Use comfrey in tea to relieve upset stomach, ulcers, diarrhea, and heavy menstrual periods.

Dandelion is a pretty common medicinal plant that can be used for digestion as it is proven to stimulate the gall bladder and the liver. It can be used as a diuretic too. The dried leaves can be added to hot water to make a medicinal tea. Surprisingly, dandelion is native to Europe but grows just about everywhere, so it’s very easy to find all over North America if you just look for the brightly colored blooms.
