Every year, thousands of music lovers flock to the Summer Meltdown Festival, in beautiful Washington State. Temperate summer climate and breathtaking natural scenery make the festival a perfect setting for camping. A ton of effort goes into planning a safe festival for all attendees. A few simple strategies will also ensure a great time camping at the Meltdown, taking place August 8-11 this year.

1. Festival rules

Before heading to the Summer Meltdown Festival, campers should know the festival rules. Tent, car, and RV camping is permitted, but there are no RV hookups available on site. Tent campers should be aware that cars are not allowed in tent areas, even for loading and unloading gear. For this reason, it is advisable for tent campers to pack light or bring a wagon to transport their gear from the vehicle to the campsite. All campers must observe bans on pets, glass containers and open campfires.

2. Meal preparation

For campers planning to bring their own food, ice is available on site to keep perishables cold. Camp stoves are allowed, but guests need to be mindful of cleanup after meals. The detergent use and grey water caused by dishwashing is best avoided by using recyclable or compostable food containers. Since the huge variety of food vendors at the festival should not be missed, campers should also plan to partake of these delicious, eco-friendly meal options.

3. Nighttime supplies

To ensure comfortable sleep in cool Pacific Northwest nights, a lightweight sleeping bag is recommended. With no showers on site, personal hygiene wipes will also come in handy. Collapsible camp chairs and folding rain ponchos will make for pleasant concert viewing in any weather. Festival-goers who pack their swimsuits and inner tubes can enjoy river recreation, a great feature of this beautiful venue.
