First - I've used Thermarest self-inflating sleeping pads for a long time and there is nothing better for a good night's sleep while camping! I have back problems, and no other sleeping pad works as well for me after a long day of backpacking to get a good night's rest - yes, even though this pad is heavier than other options, I have taken it on backpacking trips to ensure that better night's sleep. And for car camping, or a better option than crashing on a couch when visiting friends, this is the way to go. I've tried a couple other brands and ended up returning each one due to them just not comparing to my Thermarest Luxury Map sleeping pads! I also have to say that Thermarest/Cascade Designs is a great company - they stand behind their products and the warranty they provide. I recently had an issue with my sleeping pads and they took care of them with no issues and provided helpful instructions on how to potentially avoid future issues. With so many companies out there not standing behind their warranties, it is good to know you can trust these folks!

I have had this sleeping mat for probably at least eight years after being guided toward it by a helpful REI staff member here in Houston. It kept me very comfortable during cool nights during overnight camping, but, lo and behold, during our latest seven day power outage (others lost power longer) during Hurricane Beryl here in Houston I also discovered it was fantastic to keep one cool and comfortable on the floor during a widespread power outage. THANK YOU, THERMAREST, FOR PROVIDING COMFORT DURING A DIFFICULT WEEK AND THEN SOME FOR ALL OF HOUSTON.

There is non doubt that the pad is comfortable, once it's inflated. The problem I have is how long it takes to get inflated. I think "Self-Inflating" for this pad is a stretch, either that or I understand that differently. If I open the valve and let it sit, after about 6 minutes it is partially inflated. If I hook up the NeoAir pump, it gets mostly inflated after another 4 minutes or so, then it takes about 10-15 good breaths to get it fully inflated. That's a lot of effort for a sleeping pad, so I'm just not sure if it's worth it or should I send this thing back and get another brand that inflates properly.

I am a 60-year-old man in excellent physical condition, but require some cushion when I sleep on the ground after a day of backcountry backpacking. I cut back on other items in my backpack to afford the comfort of my Therma rest pad. It never fails and gives me a great night sleep and keep me warm and comfortable. It also rolls down to a nice size that fits in my 65 L backpack just right. I recommend it highly to anyone who wants to sleep good at night out in the backcountry. Happy trails.

I own 2 of these mattresses buying the first 10 years ago and the second a couple of years ago. I find I sleep better on this mattress than my normal bed at home. The insulation value of the mat keeps the cold ground away. While they haven't been used much recently I pulled them both out of storage for planned camping this summer and they still work and look like new. They are a very good investment in comfort.

The absolute best camping pad available for tent camping. Paired with one of the newer mini-cots it is pure luxury. Much too big for backpacking but perfect for car camping. Expensive but made in America and will last for many years due to its very high quality.

This will be my go to car camping pad from now on. Best night ever sleeping outside. I have used both 1" and 11/2" thermarest pads for the past 40 years. Great for backpacking but as I've gotten older, it's nice to have the added comfort of a 3" pad. But way too big and heavy to use while backpacking. The new valve design worked great. I would recommend the wider design (30") and the 72" length, assuming you're close to 6' tall.

The most comfortable front camping (car camping) mat I have ever used. I have back issues so it's very important for me, on my respite days, from back packing, that I sleep well and restore my body. This is well worth its weight (and size! She ain't small!) in gold! Inflates very easy with the self inflating valve(few extra puffs after a couple hours of leaving it be to inflate, and she's perfect!) and very fast to deflate. I'm very happy!

The luxury map thermarest pad saved camping in my family. Whereas my wife hated tent sleeping on cheap inflatable air mattresses or roll out foamies, these new luxury map thermarests changed her opinion of camping. She already booked our next campsite. Gracias thermarest!

I am returning my regular Luxurymap as it is too narrow for me. We have 45" width in our suburban for car camping. I ordered the regular Luxurymap at 20". For my husband I order the large Luxurymap at 25". That should give us total of 45" ...right? Wrong:( The regular self-inflated to a mattress of only 17" wide:( The website did not note that 3" was for the sides of the mattress. So I am returning it. Maybe I should have two Large at 25" less 3" for a total width of 44" for two mattress pads?

A little narrow, but all other qualities are excellent. Kept me warm at night in the mountains, easily inflatable and adjustable to find a comfortable fit. If you have broad shoulders or are tall get bigger size.

I have a bad back so originally bought this pad to take when we travel so I could sleep on the floor in comfort. I have been using this pad for the last 2 years and practically nitely for the last 6 months due to back issues. The pad holds air and barely leaks. I love the way it conforms to my body and supports my lower back when I lie on my back. The pad fits in a duffle with other things we are traveling with like my husband's tripod so it does not feel like a burden to take. If it every fails me, I will buy another and hope it is as good.

Yes this is a great product. Yes, well built, super efficient with its valve systems with almost complete inflation. But, one of those we bought had a defect from the first day of use and it was admittedly repaired and we had to pay the transport costs ($ 30 CDN) on the one hand and wait at least 6 -7 weeks. In addition, the person in customer service that we reached on the phone had a detachment close to I don't care. Very very disappointed with the service, pay the transport costs for a defective product on departure ... well

I sleep on this every night. It is my mattress of choice. This is not just for camping. I have been sleeping on this for over 20 years every night. I finally replaced my first one a year or so ago because it developed a bulge in it, but as Thermarest is such a great company, they replaced it for me. All I had to do was send some pictures of the mattress so they could see what was happening. I would have to say they stand by their products. I built a bed frame just for this mattress. Sleep number has nothing over Thermarest and I don't have to listen to some motor inflating it. Yes I have other thermarest mattresses that I use for different sleeping and camping etc. times.
