I've had other IKs and this one is the most responsive. It drains well. Feels more like a hard boat. I wish it had some storage

Good boat. The only knock it that it doesn't eddy very well

We are having a lot of fun in our Star IK"s. Holding up well. The drop stitch floor is removable and gets strapped in when using. I have been removing the floor so that it can dry out thoroughly. Otherwise it traps water between the drop stitch part and the kayak bottom. A little bit of a pain. I don't know that this is any worse than the Aire Force though.

Just got my new viper xl out for the first time, on local class 3 (upper Clackamas river). I am very happy with how it handled. It really moved and carved well in the rapids but still felt like a stable IK. I actually liked the way it glides over big wave trains better than a hardshell (I've owned several), and certainly other IK's. I'm not sure how approachable it would be for a new kayaker, but for this experienced and not-so-young-anymore (44 y.o) paddler, it's the best of both worlds!

Seems solid and well built. I’m 5’ 8” and 175lbs. It fits me perfect and was comfortable. The knee straps are a nice addition and keep you bolted in nicely. Took it in some big water first time out and it handled like a hard side! The nice part is I tipped and bailed but climbed right back in and took off for the next rapid! Very happy with this purchase!

Well made...drop stitch floor boofs well...could benefit from being about a foot longer.....

Though IK's seem to mostly attract newer kayakers, my path is the reverse. Returning to WW hardboats after many years and two hip replacements, when I worked up to two days per week of river runs, I started getting nagging pain after strenuous days in my hardboat. I planned to transition to an IK within a couple years, but decided to make the move immediately rather than endanger my titanium implants. The Viper XL is a blast: comfortable, highly maneuverable, and catches eddys, peels out to stream, ferries well backwards and forwards, spins and surfs.. everything I hoped for. I was skeptical about the inflated thwarts/ backrest foot rest but they are great. The extra bouyancy is great rising from holes, and reduces the amount of water in boat during self bailing. The construction is very strong and durable. Thank you, great boat. The other guys in our group now want them for their quivers.

I am giving this a 5 star so far. The only reason I say "so far" is just because I have paddled my Aire Lynx for 15 years and it is still going strong...I just hope this boat lasts a little more than half that long and I will be thrilled. Onto the "now"...I really like this boat. When I first got it out of the box, I was a little iffy, as my old boat is constructed a little more heavily, but as soon as I got it on the water, it was on point. For an inflatable, it is sporty, and performs very well. The thing I was most curious about was the high pressure floor, and it truly does make it handle more like a hard shell than any IK I have ever paddled. It is a fast IK. My first significant drop, I didn't boof enough, as my previous IK had much more rocker; this boat dove like a submarine...I got that boof stroke in after that and it responded well. The included thigh straps are a good deal, and I don't know why I never got a carry bag like this before now. I am very pleased with this purchase at this point. I will state, if you are a beginner, or want a lunker just to bounce down the river and not turn over, this boat is not for you...this is more performance oriented.

Experience the thrill of the water like never before with the NRS Star Viper Inflatable Kayak, your ultimate adventure companion. This isn't your everyday inflatable kayak; it's a revolution in kayaking performance, delivering the exceptional manoeuvrability of a hard-shell kayak with the unmatched convenience of an inflatable.
Riding the waves has never been easier, thanks to the Viper's high-performance design. It effortlessly surfs, turns, punches through waves, and ferries with unmatched agility. The unique inflatable bow and stern displacement chambers not only enhance flotation for rapid surfacing in white water but also mimic the functionalities of a back band and bulkhead. The result? A secure and comfortable cockpit that puts you in control.
We haven't forgotten about comfort either. The included thigh straps ensure a secure grip for ultimate manoeuvrability, while the 4" (10.2cm) drop-stitch PVC floor insert provides a stable and comfortable position above the water, inflating to a rigid 8-10 psi (0.55-0.7 bars).
In true NRS fashion, we utilize advanced drop-stitch technology to achieve flat surfaces that can be inflated to rock-hard rigidity. The construction process begins with thousands of fine polyester threads that lock two pieces of fabric together, creating an ultra-strong unit that can withstand pressures up to 20 psi (1.48 bars).
The NRS Star Viper is also a marvel of durability, crafted from advanced-formula PVC material using state-of-the-art seam welding technology. This ensures top-notch abrasion resistance, longevity, and air retention. Convenient bow and stern handles make transport a breeze, while top-quality Leafield C7 valves ensure hassle-free inflation and deflation.
Embrace the thrill of the water with the Star Viper - the inflatable kayak that redefines performance and convenience.
