Filter works great with a smart water bottle except the gasket included can easily be overtightened and fail. Mine compressed and ripped the gasket. Platypus needs to offer a set of replacement gaskets for the water bottle adapter that I can order and keep on hand.

Great filler, not heavy at all. Water tastes great and flow is good. I'm currently using it on the Colorado trail.

First, I am a long-time fan of the Platypus gravity 4L water filter. But I'm trying to get my backpack base weight down to about 10 pounds, for which the gravity feed system was a luxury. For the Quickdraw, as others have mentioned, I was quite frustrated with the silly dirty water squeeze bag it comes with, which just doesn't work very well. However when you use a Smartwater 33 oz dirty water bottle which screws into the filter, it makes clean water very quickly. (Also I found that the tamper ring which remains on the Smartwater bottle after the cap is removed has to be removed or the Quickdraw seal will leak under pressure). I've also had difficulty with the little blue gasket which seals the Smartwater fitting falling out (eek!) or getting distorted / leaking. It's important to realize on a multi-day backpacking trip that if your Smartwater bottle springs a leak, you better have repair tape, and that if you lose that blue gasket you are really unable to filter any water. On a multiday hike, that would be very unpleasant to say the least. :)

The filter is great when working properly and has a super fast flow rate love the ability to test the integrity of the filter, would be even better if platypus could make a cap to use as a gravity filter and to better backflush. the shaking the bag clean is not very effective ant getting the fibers clean.

This thing worked great! It filtered water so quick, it was incredible. We prepped it according to the instructions before we went on our trip, and when we needed it, it filtered quickly and effectively. I was intimidated at first, but the instructions were easy to follow, both for getting ready for first use and for sterilizing it for storage.

I used it on one trip so far. I would like a second bladder as it works only on the specific fit of the filter.

Our bladder bag has a hole in the seam after one trip. The filter is great and never worry about the quality of water. Quite upset about the hole in the bag. Seems to be a pressure-related hole, not a tear or puncture.

Works great, I really like that i have 2 methods of cleaning in the field and I'm excited to take it winter camping now that I can check whether or not it's damaged. Construction feels robust when it's convenient that I can use third-party bladder systems and water bottles as reservoirs since I like filtering a lot of water at a time..

Low pack volume. Unfortunately, I can't get a good flow, I've tried several tips but it doesn't help.

Best filter in its class. I have used every type of UL microfiber filter over the past 7 years and this is hands down the best. I was amazed by it when my wife was using it on our JMT thru-hike last summer. I had started with a brand new filter from another brand. After 2 weeks mine was slowing down and needing cleaning regularly. Her QuickDraw was ever so slightly slower and after a back flush was dood as new. We eventually started just using the QuickDraw. The design is outstanding and we both love the cap on the bottom. Screwing on the bottom cap and closing the top leaves it water tight and it can just be tossed into the bottom of our quilt without worry about freezing or need to put it inside anything. The flow is very fast and stays fast for a long time. Bags are what you'd expect from platypus, virtually indestructible. Unlike the bags from that other company that get holes in them if you so much as look at them wrong. The instructions didn't mention it but a sports cap on a clean bottle or platypus bag buts up perfectly with the output of the filter for easy back flushing. If you're the type that just wants to forget the bag and use bottles the threads on the inside of the dirty side accommodate standard water bottles. This little guy has become our new go to filter and both the one from our JMT hike and mine are working as good as new.

It is very well built and quality design but it does seem to be slow and take quite a bit of pressure to filter the water.

Highly satisfied with this filter, the high capacity of the water bag, and the little handle to keep my hands from getting wet.

I love this system. Makes it so nice when you are on the move and need to fill up. Compacts down to almost nothing. Appears to work perfect so far.

At first I thought mine was faulty due to low flow. I painstakingly put about 4 liters (30 mins of effort) of water through it with no improvement and was not happy. Decided to try a backflush to see if that would work and my flowrate went from 125ml per minute to about 3 liters per minute. Its a usable product it just needs better instructions for setting it up and "wetting" the filter. So for those with flow issues make sure you backflush with about 1 liter prior to giving up on it. Worked for me.

The flow rate is fantastic. The bladder got two holes in it after about 6 litres. I can't think of anything that could have caused the holes as I'm pretty mindful of where I am placing it and how I am using it. Going to get a replacement and see how that goes. Not ready to give up on it as the flow rate is no joke. Much better than the Be-Free and Sawyer mini, by a lot.

I really like the Platypus Quickdraw filter. It actually hit the 3.0 liter/ minute flow rate when I tested it. This is a lot faster than my Sawyer Squeeze, which tested at 1.7 liters / minute. What I like the most is the cleanliness, you can close up the filter so it doesn't leak dirty water. The shake method and backflushing method for cleaning is also easy, no tools needed. I also like the fact that the Quickdraw has two threads, inner and outer. So if you have a problem with the included large mouth reservoir you can switch to the affordable 28 mm PET thread SmartWater bottle. The only complaint I have is that Platypus should make purchasing extra Quickdraw reservoirs easy and affordable.

I just got done hiking the Presidential Range of the Application Trial in NH. It was an amazing hike. Being the toughest part of the AT, I did not want to carry lots of water with me each day, so I purchased the QuickDraw? Microfilter System. I was excited that I could fill up in the small streams on-the-go. The filter worked great and was convenient. I was even able to get clean (& cold from the stream) water to others hiking who needed more water. A gentle squeeze of the bag would get the "dirty" water flowing through the filter well enough to drink while hiking. I really enjoyed the "lid/cap" part of the filter. It closes when not in use and makes sure that "dirty" water does not get into the clean side of the filter. It is contoured well to drink out of. I would recommend the QuickDraw? Microfilter System to anyone. I love that I can take the filter part off and attach it to the most common plastic water bottles available and use it there as well as their lightweight bag(s).

I?ve been in love with this system but on a recent trip it finally let me down. The dirty bag developed a pin hole leak where the flexible bag material joins the had plastic handle, though the unit remained somewhat operational it did allow contaminated water to dribble into my clean water source. I?ve place a warranty claim on the unit but it doesn?t appear that you can purchase the dirty bags separately so I can carry a spare into the back country. Other than the small hiccup I absolutely love having this in my kit.

Literally the best filter since the Sawyer came to market. Such a game changer it's crazy to think that things can get better. But it's true things you do get better. Love peace and chicken grease

Excellent filter. Good flow rate, and the tool-free backflush with a bottle has come in very handy when having to pull from nastier sources. The included reservoir usually ends up getting left at home. Collapsible reservoirs are tricky to fill all the way without stirring up mud, and this one is pretty small, meaning you end up needing to fill it many times. IMO it would be much better if it was at least 1.5-2L. Collapsible reservoirs should be larger than the bottles they are being used to fill.

I love how compact it is, how easy it is to use and versatility of it as there are many different ways to store clean water. Very impressed.

Awesome Filter

I've had this for about 4 months now and have used it on a few backpacking trips in the Sierra Nevada, on some day hikes, and, most recently, as my only filtration on a 12 day packrafting trip in a remote part of Alaska. I seek out good water sources and backflush after every few days of use and the flow has kept up nicely and it has always been better than my Sawyer squeeze. I purchased this version with the bag and definitely recommend it. The bag has held up very nicely (much better than t...
