I've had a Talon 22 pack for at least 15 years. The interior coating started deteriorating and leaving flakes and dust from the coating over anything I put in the pack. I sent it back to Osprey for a warranty check and they sent me a new replacement pack, no problems. Excellent warranty and customer service. My future pack purchases will all be Osprey! One very happy customer here!

My current Talon 22 is a brand new, latest model replacement for my older Talon that was severely damaged during an attack by numerous, bloodthirsty, zombie marmots in Yosemite. I thankfully made it out of the battle with all my fingers and some of my lunch. The pack was not so lucky. Osprey's warranty is legit. I sent them the pack for repair and was advised that it was beyond saving and staff had given it a Viking funereal and there was a new pack enroute. This Talon is of the same high quality of all my other (5) Osprey packs that have served me well in 20 years of SAR, a JMT thru hike and all the personal adventures in between. Now that I've gotten old and slow this is my go to day hiking pack that is comfortable, durable and carries the weight extremely well. I like that the water bladder has been relocated into the main pack bag from the slot between the air scape back panel and main bag which I found to create a comfort problem at times. There have been a couple of minor tweaks that, while different from before, are not bad at all and not worth commenting about. I have read other reviews lamenting about the pack not having built in organizing pouches and sections and must say the pack was designed for outdoor activities. If you need special places for your pocket protector and books at school there are other bags designed for that purpose. All in all, I'm very happy (again) with this Osprey product.

In some ways I like the previous model better. The new one has an easier way to put in and take out the hydration system, but it seems to take up more space inside the pack. Also, on the older model I like the "sleeve pocket" on the left sleeve. The new one does not have one. The new pack does seem to have correct adjusting point to enable the pack to fit more accurately to body sizes. Thanks, Mike

This is a well made pack, but unfortunately the design is inferior to its previous model. Moving the water bladder inside of the pack makes it a pain to fill the bladder, gets the stuff inside your pack wet from condensation, etc. I can't buy a pack that has the bladder sleeve inside the main compartment. And adding half a pound of weight to this pack kills the purpose of the pack. The stronger frame is not necessary for this size. I really want to buy another osprey pack but I can't with the internal bladders now and the extra weight. Please go back to the previous design!

This is one of the best everyday packs you can buy. Company stood by their product and replaced my old pack that tore after a number of years of great use. No questions asked. I'd recommend Osprey packs and the company to anyone. Thx

I finally sent my pack back to Osprey to get the back plate replaced - it had gotten all bent and wavy over the years. . . was expecting just a new piece added. . . Just opened the box with my backpack, and realized that you guys did so much more than replace the back plate!!!! This is amazing - those shoulder straps were so stretched and curvy, and I didn't even realize there were holes in the waist strap pocket!!!! Thank you so much for restoring this backpack. I've had it for 15 years, and it's seen so much, had many miles put on it. To see it look fresh and standing tall again means so much to me.

Let me start by saying this backpack was provided as a replacement for an older Talon under the warranty program. A company that stands behind their work is commendable - and for that I truly appreciate Osprey. But for my use, the new pack itself leaves a few things to be desired. Namely, the lack of internal pockets and/or dividers. The old pack provided two padded dividers to hold a laptop/tablet, 3 small mesh pockets (for pens, headphones etc), a small internal zippered pocket and one zippered panel to organize extra items. This new pack has one mesh "pocket," and the small internal zippered pocket. That's it. I can't imagine people were asking for less organizational areas. Not sure why the design would have changed like this - other than cost savings. I do appreciate the external pockets and mess bottle holders etc. I feel that the external features are a slight improvement over the old model. Also, the additional of the waist belt is much appreciated. Overall it appears to be a well made bag - keeping with my impression of all Osprey products. But the lack of internal pockets means you will have to go the extra mile to provide your own organization inside the bag.

Great mid-sized pack that's perfect for a longer day hike. Airflow on my back is fantastic and the design carries the 10 or so pounds I put in it very well. Couldn't ask for more.

I just bought the new for 2025 Talon 22 on amazon. com. I have owned the Talon 11 sense 2020, I have used it extensively for day hiking and it has been the best backpack I've ever owned. I did try packing the Talon 11 it for an overnight trip once, but it was overloaded and started to give me uncomfortable pressure points at the bottom of the back panel. other than that, the pack is exceptional. I was always using the small mesh pocket (integrated into the shoulder strap) to keep my prescription glasses (even though I have poor vision without them, i like to take them off to exercise my vision from time to time). I'm looking forward to using the Talon 22. I bought the osprey Pack Pocket (accessory) but it was not just right, I was looking at the Hyperlite shoulder strap pocket, but it doesn't seem to be compatible with the osprey shoulder strap. my next option is the REI shoulder strap pocket. But I think if i want the best fit, i will have to custom make it to fit my exact needs. additionally, I just bought a very large Defense knife (By Cold Steel, called: Magnum Tanto XII). . . I intend to use it primarily for Car camping. but I was wondering if I could mount it to the ICE PICK holder. it's about the length of an ICE PICK

The backpack works well. This is my second Talon 22 and I noticed a number of improvements including a better frame support, sturdier top holder for the poles and easier to access pocket for the water bladder. The only think I miss is the clip for the water bladder which was easily fixed by using a small carabiner.

This Talon 22 is much improved versus the pack Osprey replaced, a 5+ year T-22 pack that probably had more than 5000 miles on it. What's improved: (1) size of hip belt pockets, they are bigger, (2) zippers on said pockets. These can actually be opened, and (3) hydration bladder space. There are other changes that are probably improvements, but those matter little to me. Great pack. Great service from Osprey.

I do quite a bit of 4 to 8 mile hikes over the last eight years. I have tried many packs from Osprey. Deiter gregory This talon 22 This talent 22 has all you'll need for an all day hike. Favorite features are the stuffed pack, organizers for all of your gear, such as ice pics and trekking poles, well designed attachment system, air airscape works awesome even in the summertime. It has enough room to bring a lunch and it's just altogether about the perfect pack. Anyone could use for a 22 L size. This is the only pack I'll use for all my hiking now and I've had it six years and it's still doesn't have any tears or problems And I've gave it a lot of use
