I use this for photography hikes. I just used it in Utah national parks. My input is that it is very lightweight, mostly comfortable, and has nice water bottle sleeves that fit my hydro flask and tripod and I was able to clip both on securely with the straps. In addition the exterior pouch that is part of those straps is very convenient to hold things you need fast like lenses. A plus is that the steel grey and blues color I got is very photogenic. The only negative I have found in them is pack is that it can be hard to load, because it is so light the zipper part at the top, when full will block off the larger pouch minorly. It' just made it harder to put my camera in. I understand it's not a photography bag. Nonetheless I recommend this bag as a light day pack with many capabilities. Side note I wore it in the narrows hike with my camera in Zion and it handles water well and was comfortable.

My biggest, maybe even only, complain about this pack is that Nalgene bottles won't stay in the side mesh pockets. Otherwise, this could be a really good, minimalist day pack for snacks, a rain jacket and water. Obviously, you can use the reservoir, but for those small day hikes that really amount to a glorified walk, you don't need that much weight.

I purchased this pack to serve as my personal item for a two-week trip to Italy (carry on luggage only!) There was no need to overfill it - just an iPad, some snacks, a jacket, and a Nalgene. I figured I could then use it for day hikes and such after the trip, so I wasn't frivolously throwing money away. Italy is hot in the summer and Rome, at least, has fountains scattered around town where you can fill up a bottle while you're touring the sites. All I really needed was my Nalgene. And that turned out to be the problem. They don't stay in the side stretch mesh pockets. The bottle kept falling out. Otherwise, it would be a fine, small, minimalist daypack.

I added the 2L reservoir and the rain cover. I e taken it hiking, skiing, and biking. My little laptop fits perfectly in the pouch provided for it. It has been to many business meetings too.

This comes on all my trips with me - airplane carry on, beach, day hikes, coffee shops (fits my 15" macbook pro in the interior sleeve). Plenty of pockets for organizing. Hydrapack fits inside nicely. Has a water repelling backpack cover that fits (sold seperately) nicely and works well in light to medium downpours. I bought the bite valve cap separately, it's necessary. I'm small, 5'2' with a skinny frame and the backback doesn't overpower me and fits well. Hydrapack leaked once (replaced kindly by Osprey at no charge), now backpack smells like mildew. Researching how to clean. Has never ripped. Would buy again.

Great product-- just what my son wants. Sunny Sports had the best price and delivery was faster than Amazon.

Fits well and easy to adjust. Can barely feel it on. Good for carry water and a meal or two plus a fleece and shell but not much more. A more substantial hip belt /pad would be nice

The backpack is better for smaller people. I am pretty small and the straps are still tight width wise on my back. They sit pretty close to my neck and that’s not something that you can adjust. It works with me but probably not for wider shouldered people.

I got this pack for my birthday years ago. Since then, I have beat the living Daylight (pun intended) out of it, & it still looks & performs like it did when it was new. I operate in tough environments & weather conditions, & as such need gear that will preform. I have used this pack in rain, snow, sleet, light hail, high winds, storms, thrown it down on to rocks, sprayed it with mud and smacked it with branches mountain biking just to name some of the more common abuse I put it through. I mostly use it now for camping & travel, either using it as I go from class to class at BSA summer camp or if I go off for a short hike with fellow scouts, or with me in the cabin of a car/plane to hold what I need for the drive/flight. I used to use this pack daily for carrying my stuff to/from school, & then from class to class, as well as to go shopping. I don't use it for that anymore not because it was not good enough, it did great, but because I upgraded to panniers (although I still use it to go from class to class in school). It should be mentioned that I also used it for day hikes. I will also use it for day or multi day trips out to more touristy places on occasion. On the one negative I noted, the side mesh stretch water bottle pockets don't hold water bottles. However, you can very easily put yours in the outside shove it fabric pocket. I put the compression strap through the loop on the lid of my water bottle. However, I have used them to nest my trekking poles in, which I then anchored to the side of my pack with the compression strap.

Great overall pack. I have used this for work where it fits a 15inch macbook pro, traveled with it and used it for hikes up to 8 miles long.

The Daylite Plus is a great pack for dayhikes. I carried two water bottles seated in the mesh pockets with the tops anchored by straps placed thru loops on the bottles - perfect. Plenty on room for snacks, maps, first aid and headlamps. I made paracord adjustable straps to attach my trek poles on either side when they were not in use. We hiked the Mighty Five in Utah and the Daylite Plus and Daylite were great packs for my wife and me.

I wanted something I can take with my hiking and everyday to work as my everyday needs pack. The side bottle pockets, don't hold bottles, everything j put in there falls out. The outside front pocket gets caught on everything and I find that annoying. Everytime I put it in and out of my locker it snags. I've gotten it caught on serveral other things. If the pack had those two problems figured out.. I'd love it. It really is the perfect size/weight/comfort for my every day needs.

This is a great little pack it replaced a 25/year old North Face. It holds my laptop/tablet in a padded pouch and has plenty of room for papers etc while business traveling. After business is over it works great for day bikes. It will hold extra clothing, snacks, etc. the external pockets are great. The stretchy ones are too small for taller 20 oz water bottles, so I bought a fat short 16 oz bottle. For longer more serious use, I bought the 2 L hydro slip in pack. A perfect fit and just like the 3L comes with the magnet. Love this pack. I also have a 24 L Stratus (sp?). Love it ad well.

Great for carrying light loads while hiking. Pockets are very accessible and all materials seem pretty durable. Unfortunately, the frame is a little too long for my torso (5'2") so is fairly uncomfortable as the shoulder straps connect at the top and feels fairly suffocating just behind my neck.

I can only join the chorus about the side pockets for water bottles. I have lost 3 water bottles so far with this pack (you'd think I'd have learnt my lesson, but no...). I thought by using a taller bottle that would fit under the strap I'd be fine but that fell out too. I really hope that the next revision has deeper and tighter side pockets!

I typically used this bag as a day pack when I went for walks or small hike where I didn't need much gear and didn't have much issues at first, the bag is light and has tons of compartments in all locations but here is when the problems began. I had to do a lot of traveling on foot for my job when we have to go to the city, I figured this bag would be perfect well I was wrong, the first issue is the side compartments what is the purpose of them as my water bottles grew bigger in volume so did the problems with keeping them in the side pouches. For some odd reason they cut low and don't secure bigger water bottles well especially if you do not strap the kangaroo pouch buckles through the loops, so I ended up up not using the side pouches and and taking up space in the kangaroo pouch for the water instead ( I used to keep my first aid kit and headphone case there) secondly as the weight of the items in the pack increases so does the discomfort level of the suspension straps, the plastic strip that secures the sternum strap just dig into my armpits and causes so much discomfort. The straps deffinely maintain breathablity but I cannot keep my sternum strap buckled because I constantly take the bag on and off, I typically walk 8 miles or more a day and the backpack is on me from 6:00am to 5:00pm so I put the word daypack to use, I only carry paperwork portable cell charger a security screw driver and a small crescent wrench inside. The bag is extremely durable I will give credit where it is due and holds up really well with rain the zippers barely ever snag and the seams hold perfectly, this bag is amazing for light gear but once you start adding things that's where you notice the flaws. I wish there where just a few changes to the bag In those areas I mentioned and this bag without a doubt will become one of the best out there, I have kelty bags that cost more and aren't performing to expectations, and the osprey warranty if it holds true to the saying is top notch!

My wife and I each received a Daylight Plus Pack with hydration bladder as part of a package from the company that organized our 12 day tour of Israel. These packs were amazing, useful, durable, lightweight and comfortable. From our tour group of fifty there were no complaints. I particularly liked the rubberized zipper pulls and would love to have similar zipper pulls on other packs of mine whose pulls are failing, falling off, etc.

I am not a minimalist but a "functionalist" when it comes to gear. I wanted something to carry incidentals on short hikes with the dogs or a pack around town. Front pockets give me quick access to keys, wallet, phone (or extra poop bags). Enough cargo room to carry extra shirt, towel, whatever. Pleasantly surprised to see this bag works with add-on water bladders, which are well designed. Only real complaints are side mesh pockets are too shallow for water bottles (when not using the water bladder) and pack feels a bit narrow when putting on (for those of us with broader shoulders). Good price point, too.

Really like the looks and setup of the compartments. Zippers seem good and don't hang up. The pack is Semi ridged and stand up, which I like. So far the only thing I would change is Peace that connects the shoulder straps tends to dig into your lower neck. Its not bad just using for work, but for a all day hike , I would expect this to get old after a while. Its not a deal breaker, and I would still buy this pack again. Happy trails

This pack was the perfect daypack for my three month trip to SE asia. I used it nearly every day. It's comfortable, suitable for day hikes, and well designed. Just for reference, I could fit the following in the pack: A lightweight fleece jacket, a rainjacket, a bottle each of sunscreen and bug spray, maps, a guidebook, a kindle (in the laptop pocket), a few granola bars, and a baseball cap, and still have a little extra room at the top. It was pretty durable as well. It has just the right amount of organization. It stood up to 10 days of intense day hikes, being flung on top of buses and shoved on the back of trucks, covered in dust and dirt without even the tiniest rip. I popped it in the sink with some castille soap when I got home and it looked just like new! The side mesh pockets were a problem, because, as many reviews have said, they are too small to fit the standard 1 liter Nalgenes or similar without the bottles slipping out. However, the buckles that are on each side (running from the shove-it pocket to just below each shoulder) have little holes in them that you can thread small, lightweight caribiners through to clip to larger water bottles. I gather that the Daylite series is really designed for use with a hydration bladder anyway. Unfortunately, the front shove-it pocket was too small to fit my raincoat, which totally defeated the purpose. However, luckily the backpack is spacious enough to fit my raincoat and another jacket inside, so I didn't really need it. It just seemed a bit pointless. Overall, I absolutely love my Daylite Plus and would definitely recommend it for travelers and day hikers.

The Daylite Series started out with humble beginnings, a simple accessory to attach to Osprey's larger packs. However, its lightweight, simplicity, durability, comfortable carry and price has proven to be wildly popular, and today their popularity is undeniable. While the Daylite and Daylite Plus continue to serve well as add-on packs for traveling and more, they shine on their own with incredible versatility. Like the day it was designed for, the Daylite is easy, uncomplicated and comfortable. Compatible as an attachment to several Osprey travel and backpacking bags for additional storage and carry options, the Daylite (see SKU: OSPPD) and Daylite Plus are great bags to have around town or as a summit pack.
Large panel-loading main compartment. Side mesh pockets, front pocket with mesh organizer and key clip and spacer mesh shoulder straps with integrated handle. Pack has multi-function interior sleeve for hydration or tablet. Mesh-covered back panel with die-cut slotted foam, fabric front panel shove-it pocket and vertical zippered front panel slash pocket. Removable foam frame sheet suspension with center stiffener allows dynamic body movement. Mesh-covered foam back panel provides comfort and ventilation. Additional die-cut EVA foam padding (Daylite Plus only). Adjustable sternum strap with whistle. Removable 0.79" (20mm) webbing hip belt. Breathable and soft Neo-Spacer mesh back panel.
The Daylite and Daylite Plus can be added on to the following Packs: + Aether/Ariel AG Series, Aether/Ariel Pro Series, Volt/Viva Series, Shuttle Series (see SKU: OSPS100GY), Sojourn Series (see SKU: OSPS80BK), Farpoint 80, Farpoint/Fairview Wheeled Travel Pack Series (see SKU: OSPWPF65BK), Farpoint/Fairview Trek Series and Porter Series. * Excludes Daylite Sling and Daylite Waist packs. The Daylite Plus measures (H x W x D) 18" x 10" x 9" (45.7cm x 25.4cm x 23cm), with a volume of 1,220 cubic inches (20 liters) and weighs 16 oz. (454 g) when empty.
