We LOVE this tent!

We love, love, LOVE this tent so much! We received our first one as a wedding gift and had it for over 17 years. We had to retire it once the fly ceased being waterproof and was deemed by North Face to not be fixable under warranty. We went a year without camping because we couldn't find this tent anywhere in stock. I patiently checked North Face every month to see if it was back in stock, which it finally was this winter and I scooped one up immediately! It is very heavy. We used it for backpacking a few times, which was fine. We just shared the weight. But mostly we use it for car camping, which to many may seem overkill to use this tent for car camping but we camp for long stretches of time from early May through late fall and want to be warm, dry, and comfortable, and this tent is perfect. We like the 3-person as well because it is roomy - my husband is 6'3". You will not be disappointed with this tent - you are dry during a hard rainstorm and warm when the snow flies. If this tent holds up for 17 years as our first one did, I will be camping into my 60s with it!

Best 4 season tent tou there

VE 25 is the best 4 season tent out there. Super strong. A little heavy, but it's the gold standard to measure other 4 season tents against.

Top of the line tent for wintery adventures

Most durable and high quality tent you can ask for. Perfect for a winter base camp - needs to be divided between climbers due to the size and weight. Besides that...it's perfect.

I would buy this again if I live long enough to need to

A palace that was indifferent about high winds. Good quality. Good ventilation. This tent might very well outlive me.

expedition ready, winter extremes

It is important to understand why this tent exists... TNF calls this a "premier" 3 person "expedition tent". Named "VE 25", this is the larger sister of the 2 person "Mountain 25 Tent". This is a 4 season, mountain and expedition ready tent. What kind of weather would I find on a mountain? Anything...from beautiful, sunny and calm, but more often, unsettled weather, big snow storms, blizzards, and often strong wind and even stronger gusts...and frigid temperatures...aka, weather extremes. Do not buy this tent just because you love TNF brand, and the Summit orange/yellow color. Do not buy this tent for camping in warm or hot and humid summer camping. You miss the point. Not only is this a four season tent (which really means suitable for winter), it is also an "expedition tent"...made to keep you alive in the harshest of (winter) conditions, and light enough to split up with your fellow backpackers and head into the mountains. Anyone who buys this tent should know that windy places like the mountains require guying out all the guy lines. Taught, and pointing front or rear vestibule into the direction of the wind. Expedition campers are detail oriented campers. Every piece of equipment has a purpose and value and the use (setup) of the equipment matters in extremes. If you're camping in snowy mountains like this tent is designed for, bring the proper winter snow stakes (spades really) and use them. Ok, enough soapboxing...here's my short review: I've used this tent above 10,000 in the Colorado Rockies. I've used it in sustained 35mph winds at 20°F. I've used it below 0°F. When properly setup, and guy lined out, this tent is strong, and worthy. I've used it with 3 adults and a child. It was snug. It will fit two adult winter campers with all their gear. I had a 2012 version of this tent. It was doing great except the fly was delaminating. After sending it in for warranty repair, I was notified TNF would not repair it. TNF sent me a credit for the amount the tent cost in 2012. Unfortunately that was almost $200 below the post-pandemic inflation pricing. After a bit of persistence, the customer service team gave me their best 20% off discount. Once I applied the coupon and their discount, I basically received a full new tent replacement. The new tent has some nice upgrades. The minor downgrade was the stuff sack which I requested an older version with the cinch down straps. Now I own two expedition TNF tents. The Mountain 25 and the VE 25. I'm considering selling several 3 seasons tents now except for maybe one. Colorado just isn't a place for wimpy tents.

Leave out the window!

This tent is a four season tent, however I have had to return it twice because of a faulty window in the vestibule. The North face replaced the tent both times but I had to pay out of pocket over fifty dollars in taxes which I feel like they should have covered. The tent now does not have a window in it and I have not had an opportunity to use it yet, but I will. For the price of this tent it should have never failed, but it did twice. I am hoping it should be fine since they eliminated the window.

Norh Face does not have ground sheet for older models

I own an old version of this tent. When I lost the tent, I still had the rain fly and poles, which can be set up in the fast fly version. But I also lost the ground sheet. North face no longer has a ground sheet that fits this tent. Or they will refuse to sell one separately From the newer model. Would love to see them start selling the ground sheets.

I've used this for the past 20 yrs.

I bought my VE-25 in 2004 for a Denali trip. TNF warranties this for life. I've had to replace one pole due to heavy snows in CA where we got too lazy to continue clearing the tent from snowfall every hour and woke up with a partial collapse. My original fly's seams delaminated and TNF replaced it with the newest version which is still compatible. My window just popped out on it like the guide in Peru noted. But TNF just fixed it and It's ready to take back out.

Bad to the BONE!

We camp. Recently I camped at Big Sur campground in California. That night was forecasted to receive heavy rains in excess of 1"/hr. The storm did not disappoint. I selected a spot in the camp on a slight angle so water would drain from under the tent. It rained so much that the entire campground was flooded in under 2" of water. The VE-25 kept us dry. Dry like a California drought. Would def. recommend this tent to you. The ventilation system kept the insides condensation free. The multiple doors is a nice touch. Lots of vestibule space. Always keep the tent pointed into the wind.

Sturdy tent

I finally broke down after 20yrs of enjoying my 3-4 season NF Nebula tent. It's the closest I could find to hvy durability my old NF tent offered. The tent is heavy though and best divided among others in a group.

Great 3-person tent

Great tent, but returned as it's a very large 3-person tent. A little too big for us, but we have the 2-person version of this tent and LOVE it. VERY well made.

I would by this again

Foot Print is included! I wanted to add this as it does not state in the product description. Also no more window to break out/off. A window would be nice but they always yellow and break down fist.

Good for homeless in cold conditions

I saved up for a year to get this tent. The homeless shelters in my area are very dangerous and I'd rather sleep outside. Unfortunately I live in cold conditions. Thankfully this tent has kept me warm

I just bought another VE-25 tent today.

Bought second VE-25 since 2002 today. First one was in the wilderness over 1000 days in 21 years. Temps from 9°-121°f. 60 mph winds at 12,500 ft. Resisted hail, rain, sandstorm and snow. Been on 136 backpack and over 100 car trips. NF repaired and honored the lifetime warranty to replace the tent. I own 13 tents. 3 of them are NF tents. Harrier, Himalaya and VE-25.

This is one of the strongest tent in the market!

This tent has been in some of the worst weather in the USA! I have camped in this tent during a few of my cross country trips in nearly every state in the USA. It will not leak! I have tested this tent in extremely cold conditions and I have slept dry in heavy storms where this tent was an inch deep in water! I accidentally set this tent in a slope in Great Sand Dunes National Park during a night of heavy rain and it survived being buried in water, I was so surprised that it did not leak! I also have the Mountain 25 and that tent is just as good as this one! The one problem with this tent: The weight. This isn't a backpacking tent. This will either be set up for a few days in an expedition trip or car camping.

Absolutely bomber

I've spent hundreds of nights in these tents, and they're absolutely bomber. If the weather might be bad, this is the tent you want. There is a reason they're used worldwide on the highest peaks. For what you get the value is incredible. Sure, it's bulky and heavy if the weather is good, but when things turn bad the weight is well worth it. Works great for 2 people on long expeditions, 3 on shorter trips. Details are all thought out, from doors that stow in their own pouch, ample interior pockets that dry stuff out in the sun, vents that can be opened/closed from inside the tent, hexagon shape that allows for gear storage on either side. If you need a true expedition tent this is a no-brainer.
