Great tent, except for the rain-fly, which does a minimal job at keeping water from entering the tent. The rain-fly will ABSORB water instead of deflecting it. It is manageable in light, passing rain showers but during torrential downpours, the inside of the tent will certainly get wet. The rain-fly becomes saturated and will drip water into the tent.

Great tent, took this on a backcountry trip camping in the snow. Very sturdy, holds up really well in the wind, zero condensation with all the ventilation. Good number of pocket holes, descent size vestibule. Kept me warm enough in subzero temps, and super easy to set up, just a few minutes and you are ready to go. It's a solid 3 season tent which will have no issues for winter campers. Only issue I have is the elastic tension inside the poles is not great, had to cut the rope inside to put the poles together. Will need to work out a way to replace it. But a very minor issue.

Good tent. A little heavier that my old NF Flint 2, which it replaced, but it is certainly roomier. Good overall value. I think it weighs a little more than as advertised, especially adding the footprint - which comes with the tent I might add. Tested it in a big down pour in the backyard. No rain got in. I was a little worried about the corners of the tent protruding slight from the rain fly, but nothing got in. I think the bathtub style floor extends up in the corners. Plenty of pockets inside and very roomy for two. I tried using a low cot inside and I brush the mesh walls stretched out, but still no problem. It has two vents on either side of the fly, so I'm expecting zero condensation issues. The poles are a little unusual, being all connected, but you figure out where everything goes real quickly. Came with good lightweight stakes. I'll leave another review after testing it in the backcountry. I mostly got it for car camping or to loan out when friends join me camping.

Would recommend to anyone looking for a all around great tent for backpacking as long as two are distributed with pack weight. And perfect for two and car camping or base camp.

I used the tent in Florida when it was in the 70's and 80's and I have used it in Georgia when the nights got down to the mid 30's. I was comfortable in both climates. The only thing I would change is that the fly came down a little more.

This is my go to base camp tent. All the space you need for two people and sturdy in the wind.

I totally recommend this tent! It has just the right space for two people and you can tell it's made of good, durable materials. I also like that the mesh allows for star-gazing in the summer. It's also pretty light.

Love the new Talus 2! Easy to set up. Very comfortable inside -- and a fine looking to boot. Looking forward to years of adventures.

A little on the heavy side for an ultralight backpacker, but I'll take an extra pound anyday for TNF quality and warranty. The tent is roomy and setup is a breeze. Can't go wrong with anything TNF!!!!

Great tent so far. I have used it once. Easy to set up and no issues so far. My 11 year old son was able to figure out how to set it up.

This tent works great for the hiking and car camping I do. It sets up easy and provides great amount of space inside. I love the dual entryways and internal storage compartments! I mentioned customer service because this was a tent I picked as a replacement to my old tent that was not repairable and The North Face sent me a gift card to replace it since they could not fix it. To me that is amazing customer service and dedication to their customers!

Loved this tent! It was the first time I invested on a tent for backpacking purposes. Totally worth the money!

I haven't had it out on the trail yet, but I was able to set it up in my living room by myself in about five minutes without looking at the instructions. The corner tabs for the footprint, tent, and rain fly are color-coded. Just match up the red corners and you're set. It is pretty lightweight. You can easily split the load between two people. I bought two of these in lieu of one four-person tent. My two oldest kids will split one between them and my wife and I will be splitting the other. The poles are the best I've ever seen on a tent this lightweight. It broke down as easily and fast as it went up. I'm looking forward to hitting the trail with this tent.

This tent is a great tent! It is not the lightest but is backpackable. The setup can be a little difficult with only one person but doable. The poles are all connected which is nice because you can't misplace anything but it does make it a little more bulky. This tent is super comfortable and roomy, love all the gear pockets and the loft which is great to put a phone or iPad to watch movies. the tent can stuff down pretty compactly if you take the poles and stakes out. This tent will not disappoint if you want a good car camping and section hiking tent and want to be comfortable.

I love the tent. It’s well built, sturdy, handles high winds well, and good colors. The instructions on how to put it up are really vague. It took a couple tries at the poles to get them secured at the ground. Once I got that, the rest was easy. If you’re looking for a tent, I highly recommend it.

I have only used this a few nights so far, but the set up is quick and easy. The way the poles are set up is great for extra room inside. Plenty of floor space and headroom. 4 low pockets and one large built in gear loft provide lots of storage for organization. The gear loft seemed odd to me until I read that it was designed at an angle to allow people to watch movies or video on their ipad while chilling out in the tent. Clever, but I go camping to get away from my electronics! Light tent for having 2 doors and vestibules. Great that the footprint was included with the tent. Handy that one corner has red webbing for easy and quick set up. Well thought out design.

I think that this is a great lightweight tent perfect for weekend hiking and camping trips. It is both water in and wind resistant making it tough able to stand up to the elements.

The Talus 2 Tent has a simple "H" frame design that meets all the demands i could ask for in a shelter. The weight is manageable and the framing of this tent is sturdy but also very easy to setup and to breakdown. I also think that inside the tent has plenty of storage pockets in each corner and the overhead storage pocket is a convenient option as well. I like the option of the rain-guard to extend beyond the boundary of the entrance and exit of the tent, to shelter any other item from the rain.

This tent seems like a great purchase. I've only used it once so far, but I really like it so far. It was very easy to set up because the tent clips onto the polls rather than having to go through sleeves, although I do wonder how those plastic clips will hold up over the years. I like the integrated gear loft, but the design of the mesh pockets at the corners of the tent made them difficult to use for small items because they'd get so far down into a very narrow part of the pockets. I also like that it came with the footprint; I had to buy that separately for my previous North Face tent. Even though I was camping by myself, it was kind of nice to have doors on both sides of the tent, and I think it would be really helpful if I were camping with another person and had to get up in the middle of the night or otherwise leave the chat without disturbing the other person. It seems relatively lightweight but I really can't comment on how it would work for backpacking because I was car camping. For what I paid for it, this tent is a really great value. My last tent was a North Face tent which was a bit smaller, and I loved that tent! I bought it in 2002 and used it for more than 10 years but I guess so much UV exposure finally made the waterproofing break down and it started leaking. I have no doubt my new North Face tent just as good. I was able to get both of them at bargain prices, the old one for $89 and the new one for $139, which is why I bought it from Sunny Sports because it was $189-199 on other websites.. This is my first time doing business with Sunny Sports and I was extremely impressed by how quickly the tent arrived. I made a relatively last minute decision to go to a 4-day music festival, and it was fantastic that the tent got to my small town in a relatively remote area in just a few days, in plenty of time to check it out before I went to the festival.

I bought STORMBREAK 2 and it had some minor issues so I went to local store -Boulder, CO- to return the product. They offered me TALUS 2. I took the offer and simply love my new tent. The only thing I dislike about this tent is the poles that attached together.

*I used this product while hiking the John Muir Trail in early June. It was very windy, and one day it snowed six inches... This tent is very sturdy, I had the stakes/anchor buried in ice and at no point did it feel like the wind would affect the structure. The only rain that I experienced was frozen rain, so I can't review on the waterproofing part... *The gear access zipper on the opposite side of the tent was definitely a nice touch. *This is definitely not a small tent, and takes up quite a bit of space in the backpack (see picture below). It is certainly not light either (5+ lbs) but the trade off is space, comfort and knowing that it's sturdy. *I would recommend buying more stakes/anchors as only five came with the original package and you need at least ten in my opinion (4 for inside tent, 6 for the outside tarp).

The Talus 2 tent is the perfect shelter to take along with a buddy for a backcountry adventure this season. It features the much-needed "double doors and vestibules design", so if you have to exit or enter the tent, you can do it easily from any side (useful for those late night nature calls). Feel free to stage your gear like muddy boots on one vestibule and in the other one make a semi-covered field kitchen. Don't worry if there are sad clouds on the forecast, because this tent has fully seam-tape seals on both the canopy and the floor, keeping you dry and cozy during rainstorms. Inside you'll find a useful gear loft for items like headlamps or water bottles. The mountains are calling, so go visit them while you still can.
