Fantastic service from MSR / Cascade Europe I have quite an aged Whispetlight International- which I haven't actually used much. It has the old grey plastic pump. My eldest son is now looking to cycle across the US and needs a stove- so I dug it out. Looked at the pump parts and O-rings- which all needed replacing and lubricating- and whilst looking online I saw that in the US MSR offers a new pump if you send the old one in. So I contacted the UK agent- who suggested I try the European office. A massive thank you to Ciamha who sorted out a new pump for a very modest charge, which was sent on trust with an invoice. Whilst the old pump might be fine, I'm not sure that 30 year old plastic is the best and the fact that you can just screw the main valve right off isn't brilliant. Great service always deserves a mention.

Great piece of gear! I can fit my stove, pump, repair kit, heat shield, matches and coffee mug (mug has coffee/whitener & sponge in it) in my pot set. Along with being compact, this stove is easy to light, quiet and well built.

Well, I'm on year 29 with mine Yikes! Once I ask a cab driver in Mexico on a volcano climbing trip to stop at a gas station so we could get fuel That was 1995 I just used it for three days this week on the lakeshore trail into stehekin WA That's 2024 Still works great!

This is my favorite stove. I use in Africa every year to cook and sterile medical instruments. These stoves are the only stove that can be completly disassembled and cleaned in the field with min effort.

Exactly as described. Well-built and easy to use. It is hard to adjust the temperature once you're cooking (e.g. simmer something), but that was expected. Thanks MSR!

just thought i'd let other MSR users that i bought this stove back in 1989 when i got into backpacking. i was 17 back then and to me, this was a big deal as it was expensive for a teenage student. it's been working flawlessly ever since, provided one puts a little effort into it, as i did change some gaskets on the pump as they had dried out. BUT, they are readily available new even today, MSR should get the recongnition they deserve for the timeless design and compability.

You can never go wrong with MSR WhisperLite International. It is proven to last. Excellent in Winter high altitude use and for Summer use. Light weight, packs small inside my small pot. Durable. I have 2 now to use on winter guided mountaineering/backpacking trips. Thank you MSR for making such incredible cooking gear.

I chose this stove for my recent 11-month cycle expedition from Ushuaia, Argentina to Vancouver, Canada and I wasn't disappointed. It performed great in all conditions, from sub-zero temps, high winds (40-50mph) and high altitude (5,000 m a.s.l). I ran it primarily on unleaded gasoline, but occasionally on white gas. Whilst the gasoline burns a bit more dirty, it is relatively cheap and readily available anywhere you might find yourself, no matter how remote. The efficiency of the stove was impressive. 500ml of fuel would give me enough burn time for at least 6 meals (cooking pasta + cooking veggies in a sauce) and boiling water for tea/coffee a handful of times too. The stove is very easy to set-up and get working. Its also quick to pack-up, lightweight and doesn't take up much valuable pack space. I took some spare parts and serviced my stove a couple of times on my trip to help it run smoothly. I used it at least 200 times, or about 35 hours of running/burn time in total, and didn't experience any problems/issues at all. Reliability of your key kit items is crucial when on expeditions in remote parts of the world and, in my experience, MSR makes equipment that you can trust.

This stove has lasted 22 years in the Army; multiple deployments overseas in varied conditions. Many multi-day backpack trips, day hikes, on a couple 14ers, warm-ups on ski trips...just now thinking I should do some maintenance on the stove. It never skipped a beat!

Purchased my whisper light international in 1995, used it on many weekend getaways in CO, along the AT and deployments to Iraq. I even use it while car camping in the DC area with the family. Next to my Dana Design Terriplane back pack the best piece of equipment I have ever purchased.

I used to have the original wisperlight, after I got this one I wish I would have gotten the universal. however, this is a very nice stove! I very confident that this stove will last a long time. the only reason I am not using my original, is because it was stolen. I never did wear it out.

One of the best pieces of gear I have ever owned. It works like a champ. My unit is 27 years old and works as well as day I bought it. Great in low temps.

I got this at an absolute steal at a yard sale for $20 along with an MSR pot set and a canister for the fuel. It is perhaps the best $20 I have ever spent. I'm sure it was an older style but the thing works flawlessly with no hiccups. It's so greatly compact it fits in the pans and it comes along with foil to use to encircle the unit to keep heat in and wind out. I've used it multiple times and couldn't be happier.

I've had this stove for about 5 years now and it's great. It's very lightweight, and the fuel canister can be refilled which means less waste in the waste stream, and you can bring as much or as little fuel as you need. It's a bit tricky to get the hang of preheating the coils, but once you figure it out it's easy. I'd also say that this is a stove that will last a long, long time - but you'll need to figure out how to take it entirely apart, clean it, and replace broken parts. However, this is exactly what I want in a stove, something that is made well and can be fixed when it breaks!

I bought this a few years ago and it has served me well. I like being able to choose my fuel type depending on my adventure, but I wish there was a better way to control the temperature. Big boil for sure!

I bought this in 2013 and it's been used backpacking all over the world from Moab to the snows of the Rockys, South America, on countless camping and hiking trips and now I use it in France. It has always worked well from boiling water to making eggs to fresh trout. It is easy get to much fuel going and it does catch the ground below on fire so be sure to have it cleared and out below. The only thing negative is that the wind will blow out the flame in occasion but using the tin helps with that.

I used this stove for trips in Africa (using petrol stations fuels) and in Europe (without the bottle, just buying canister fuel). It works great all the time and I'm happy of my purchase. I hope it lasts many more years. Some O-rings needs to be replaced when needed but the whole design is easy to service and to unmount completely, especially when one carries a bike multitool. The only drawback is that the maintenance kit doesn't include spare burner rings (the ones that generate a nice blue flame), as mine got corroded to a point they had holes in them (apparently from using bad quality fuel, but we can't always avoid that). However MSR support is great (which I also found having other MSR products) and that was easily replaced. I'm now looking forward to upgrading my tent with MSR too.

I've had this stove for 6 years now (I have the version with the wire legs, but it's basically the same stove) and estimate I've cooked about 6 months worth of meals on it. I use white gas when I can get it but have used unleaded petrol for about half the time. (I met someone who had run theirs on diesel a few times - it works but is pretty smokey) I don't find it particularly noisy - I can still have a conversation with whoever is with me - and it puts out a bunch of heat and boils water fast. It takes some practice to get it to simmer if you need that option (a combination of low pressure in the fuel bottle and the dial turned low) but whats a bit of burnt pasta between friends? I've replaced a few seals in the pump and have cleaned the fuel line often enough that it's not a big deal. If the line is super dirty I recommend flushing the line with fuel without the wire in before flushing with the wire in. For a liquid fuel stove that you can take anywhere this is unbeatable!

I purchased my Whisperlite International more than a few years ago. It's seen many backpacking trips and never failed to heat my meals & beverages. Dependable and quality gear, you take care of it and you'll be rewarded with many years of service.

Purchased this last year. What a great piece of kit. Extremely easy to prime and use. The shaker needle to clean the jet is an innovative idea. Before packing it away for the winter I carried out a service on the unit using the largest of the service kits. Again this was easy to do with good quality parts and an easy to follow manual. Didn't need to replace all the parts only mainly the seals as it was to be stored for some time. It's a tad expensive compared to other stoves but well worth the cash

I purchased this stove for a trip to Philmont Scout Ranch June 2016. It performed flawlessly. It's ease of use allowed all the crew member to cook with very little instruction. We spent most of our time at 9,000 - 10,000 plus feet and never had any problems.

Bought my first one fiew years back, got run over by a car, but after getting it untangled it was still working fine. I bought a second one shortly after due to performance issues. I use it mostly at work/ in the field mostly to get my gear dry and to warm myself up. I work in the military and its the way to go if you want a quiet stove that boil water in no time that is literally bomb(car) proof !!

The best value that you can get. Very fuel efficient ( the biggest bottle will be fine for a week trip :D ) in windy environment with no extra gear. Easy to use ( just try ignition process once before your first trip so you are familiar with that, there is video available on this page). I like the idea that you are not creating garbage ( I am talking about used canisters which are very hard to recycle in Canada). Easy maintenance. Pretty solid product. All my friends who have it - won't go with anything else.

Easy to use. Lights easily in all conditions. Easy to service. Lots of heat. Runs on loads of available fuels but excels when using white gas type fuel.
