Stove works well. Would be better if could simmer.

I've been using Reactors since the year they were released and honestly can't imagine using anything else for boil-only cooking. We even keep one in our road trip kit for blazing fast morning coffee and even just heating up water to do dishes (takes about 45 seconds to make a full pot of 'warm' water) and the occasional off-grid shower. Nothing compares to the speed. Not even close. Add wind to the equation and everything else is just a stove. I've tried them all, and this is the only legit, all-condition stove system made. Full Stop.

Great stove. Better than jet boil and some other brands that I've used.

I own 5 different camping stoves from various brands. The MSR reactor has become an easy choice when heading to the back country. I have taken it on numerous back country trips ranging from day trips to up to 16 day outings. It burns less fuel than my other stoves, boils water significantly faster, and performs well in challenging conditions (wind, rain, snow, high elevation). I recommend this stove to all my friends and would/ will buy another if/ when I need a replacement. This stove has seen heavy use and has never let me down.

I've used this system for over 10 years. Never fails. Extremely durable, well built as well as portable. It's the fastest heating unit I've ever tried. Wind doesn't phase it. None better!

Amazing system. Works perfectly at higher altitude. Boils water faster and saves the fuel which is critical at higher camps. Totally blocks off the Wind.

I'v had my 1L Reactor for 6+ years now. Never had an issue with it. It's extremely durable as I have used and abused it and it still acts like it will work for decades with no maintenance. It always lights very easy, and always boils water faster than every other stove, especially in the wind! The design is brilliant. Thank you MSR! Seriously I'm getting tired of people thinking their jetboil is something special when this stove beats it in every way. The MSR Reactor is a stove that will last a long long time. Get the MSR windburner if you climb bigwalls or do winter alpine ascents and want a stove you can hang inside a tent. Otherwise this is the best. The handle is plenty sturdy fyi. 6 out of 5 stars.

Handle is flimsy, should have made it 1/8": taller to accommodate fuel can. Lighting is a bit of a challenge.

We use these on all of our group backpacking trips for boiling water for our boil in the bag meals. Efficient and fast! We usually carry two for a group of 10-12, but could definitely manage with one.

Whoever said "a watched pot never boils" didn't have a Reactor. One of my most satisfying purchases ever.

I've been using the MSR Reactor since 2016 and it's still one of my favorite stoves. I can fit a small fuel canister nicely in the 1.5L pot with a lighter at the bottom and the stove on top. Pros: Burner works- I mean it works even in horrible alpine conditions. the built in wind blocker and the way the pot vents the heat against the pot gets you boiling water in no time. I've been along with people who brough Jet Boils and had to borrow my stove to cook because of the wind and cold. This stove worked perfectly for things like Rainier and The Ice cap slam in the north cascades. Tight fit- with a small fuel canister and lighter inside the 1.5L pot with the stove I have almost no waisted space. maybe I could stuff a couple sour patch kids in the gap at the bottom... maybe. Cons: My only gripe about this stove is my envy of the things the wind burner can do. A pot that latches onto the stove and a system that can hang from the inside of the tent can make your life so much nicer in bad conditions. When comparing the reactor and wind burner for alpine adventures. there's almost no situation where id prefer the reactor. This is the only reason I'm leaving 4/5 stars for my beloved Reactor.

Hi, I love my reactor but I wonder if you could do a new version that could be used with an inverted canister.

Still the Gold Standard for speed to melt snow and bring it to a boil, even @ high altitude and using the least fuel. It can be outside the tent in windy conditions at low temps with no additional windscreen and still deliver performance that beats all other competitors. I have used a Reactor stove since they first came out and now I have a Tote bin full of other brand stoves aaccumulated over 30 years that go unused

The stove is an absolute workhorse. It still remains the best stove I've ever owned. However, when removing the handle from the pot to clean, the aluminum connection from pot to handle has bent. The pot tends to slip out of the handle when pouring water at mid to full capacity as a result.

This is the world's best stove but you need to know it does one thing: boils water as QUICKLY as possible--especially ice cold mountain water and snow! Great in all weather conditions with no extra windscreen required is a huge plus. Very easy to use and packs down nicely. Do not purchase for cooking food in the pot or slow simmering food; it won't work for that purpose. It just boils water. FAST. It can keep up with a group of several people looking for hot water for morning coffee, filling their dehydrated food baggies, or just for boiling a pot of water to impress your friends on how fast it is.

Best canister stove I?ve used. If in need of coffee water, cooking basic meals or eating freeze dried, it?s the way to go! Boils more water faster than the competition and handles the elements with ease. Used daily while working outdoors for six month at a time and have never had it malfunction. Worth the investment!

This stove is pretty amazing. Very well thought out and incredibly efficient on fuel. It's also probably one of the quietest stoves you will buy. A couple of downsides for me; it doesn't really have a low temperature setting. It is adjustable of course, but it's keeps the heat in so efficiently that the low setting still cooks very hot. I also wish it had its own spark switch on it to light automatically. A long lighter is best for lighting it. I haven't used this stove in winter yet, but because the flame is well protected from the wind I can't see it being an issue. I like the strainer in the lid and the detachable lid. Also happy that the butane canister fits inside the 1.7L with the bottom piece of the stove. All-in-all, a great stove that I would recommend for your backpacking trips, or even car camping if you're keeping it light.

I backpack throughout the spring and summer and hunt and fish in the fall. I am not a minimalist so I bring coffee on all of my adventures and do a pour over every morning. Before this I had a minimalist stove from another company. That stove would burn through my fuel too fast and would take up to 10 minutes to boil water. I was most concerned with the fuel though. I had to bring a lot. So then I switched to a white fuel stove which was more fuel efficient, but took way too long to boil wate...
