Bought these as a replacement/upgrade from my 20 year old Evos after they succumbed to the elements. Figured I'd try something lighter and more modern binding system. I was delighted to see the binding system is the same width as my old Evos, should I want to switch them over, or buy another set of bindings (yes, the original straps can be purchased). Anyway, the Lightning shoes proved themselves today going up sometimes steep terrain in deep unconsolidated snow. I did find them slightly less aggressive with only two teeth on the foot fangs instead of four ( on the Evos), also a bit more side slippage as they don't have as much teeth , relying more on the outer frame. Still, for 99% of my use the trade off is worth it. The design is lighter and bindings are comfortable and easy to use. Unless you tackle steep mountain terrain most of the time, I highly recommend these.
