I've been using my dragonfly stove with original pump for 20 years and never experienced a concern with the pump. I figured it was time to buy a backup for my remote hunts, plus I grew weary of switching the pump over to a different sized bottle each time my mission changed, so I'll just keep the extra pump attached to my spare fuel during a trip. They don't recommend long-term storage that way, however. Honestly, I've always left the pump on the fuel bottle containing white gas, and it's never caused a problem. Although, as the pump aged I have had to pressurize the bottle with several more strokes. I don't feel that is a big deal. I could probably remedy the issue by using the parts that come in the expedition service kit. Just haven't bothered because it still works. This new pump looks the same as the old one, so for now I can only presume it will be just as good. That is, unless quality control at MSR is not what it used to be. Time will tell.

I never had a problem with the gray pump. Parts for that are scarce. Slowly changing the Scout Troops stoves to the new pump. It works fine, but is harder to access the pump cup.

The pump works as it should. My old one did not hold pressure any longer. I suspect the seal had become hard over time and was no longer flexible (I think). I would have been able to repair my stove had I been able to just buy the seal, not the whole pump.

Old faithful. Worked brilliantly for 20 years even in demanding climate (eg Iceland in winter). My only question is: previously, the fuel inlet line was a simple transparent plastic hose. Nowadays, there is a white cap at the end. Can someone please explain to me what that cap is for? Does it have to be removed or is it there to facilitate fuel intake when the fuel level is low? Thanks!!

I purchased this to replace the pump on my almost 30 year old dragonfly stove which has received a lot of use. I didn't want to throw out an otherwise perfectly good and working stove and am so pleased that MSR still provides compatible parts. The stove is now good for another 30 years of adventure in the mountains!

Really like this dragon fly stove pump together with the stove. The ability to adjust the flame intensity between simmer and Full on makes cooking a wide range of meals a cinch.

Just got back from camping yesterday and my little MSR is still working like a champ. Nothing like a hot tin cup of coffee, even if it is instant, on a chilly morning.

Lots of new kinds of trail cook stoves are popping up, but I will stick with my MSR WhisperLite and DragonFly stoves for feeding my groups of campers on our outdoor adventure wilderness trips in the Adirondack Preserve in NYS.

I bought my first pump as part of a kit with the stove in 1995. It still works great, BUT I was about to depart for a very long backpack trip and thought it best to get a new one

I've had the dragonfly stove for 20 years and the original pump finally broke. The replacement pump was a perfect match.

I very recently purchased the MSR Whisperlite International and worked so well until the pump stopped working - such a pain! And this happened when I'm about to test the stove for its first mountain expedition. I'm glad that it's not happening during the trip but unfortunate that I need to find a replacement and it's difficult to get one where I'm located. So the trip is on hold at this point. Wish you can help.

This is an issue...... The plastic breaks easily. Please make a pump that can take a little outdoor use... Also please don't say it is not an issue. I had 2 pumps break 1 from just being in a bug out bag.

Reliable, solid pump

Functions well, but not quite as easy to use as the (much) older style. Harder to fit it into the fuel bottle, and more importantly, the old style thumb wheel valve was much more robust and easier to use.

Pleased to fix and keep my twenty one year old stove working. Pleased that MSR makes good quality gear that is able to be repaired.

Works wonderfully! In 2000, we bought our DragonFly for an extended camping/canoeing trip in Algonquin Provincial Park and it is still going strong! Thrilled that MSR has true replacement parts to keep the DragonFly going and that we don't have to replace with a brand new product. If we ever do, it will definitely be another MSR cook stove which will no doubt outlast us =) Thank you!

I bought this to replace my original 1994-era pump. The new design is smart, simple and works great. MSR knows how to make good, reliable gear. Highly recommend.

Hi, is there any difference in fuel pump between the Whisper light and dragonfly? I use both stoves and need a new pump. Preferabely i will use one pump for both stoves.... The old pump broke down after more than 20 years of use, pretty gooed! Many thanks, Leen

I got my old Whisperlite Internationale out a few weeks back in anticipation of a few winter hikes with the kids now that they're getting old enough. I checked it and found a split in the plastic below the brass knob of the old design. I bought my stove in 1996/97, so 26 years is pretty good. I ordered a new pump and was pleasantly surprised to get a new wind screen and reflector with it too - wasn't expecting that! I have use it on a two day trip into the hills and can say it has better cont...
