Shopper : whats a footprint?MARK WILLIAM L : A footprint is a protective barrier that goes underneath the tent to prevent moisture and protect the floor of the tent. One side is coated to be waterproof. Really a vital item.Janice C : It's a tarp that you put under a tent to protect it. They are generally made for that stecific tent and will have an attachment of some Sort.

Getting soaked every night is not fun.

I used this in various conditions in the Sierras for more than a year. I like the room inside (for a bivy), but the venting just doesn't cut it. The condensation inside on your legs is horrible, and your sleeping bag gets wet each night. No bueno.
