I have a Kelty Monarch 2p tent which is awesome; but I needed something a bit smaller for my bike camping and kayaking trips plus this Marmot Tungsten is a bit easier to setup and take down and beautifully designed. I appreciate that it comes with a footprint, has ventilation in the top which reduces condensation. I did purchase two new stakes ($4.00) because this tent doesn't come with all the stakes you need. It's going out in its maiden camping trip this June for four days. I contemplated getting the ALPS Mountaineering Lynx but it doesn't come with any vents in the top and it's $30.00 extra for the footprint. I had seen this Marmot Tungsten 1p at REI when shopping with my daughter (they have a gear trade area) so she bought it in EUC. I helped her set it up and take it down. What a game changer because it's up and down in less than 5 minutes. I wasn't sure I could handle being in a small 1p tent, but I really liked the design of it.

While a little on the heavy side, this is a great tent to start backpacking with. I've taken it out a few times now and it has worked out great. The tent is very roomy, I had space ar my head and feet to store gear amd the vestibule had plany of room for my pack. This is a solid tent.

Tent seems well made but is definitely too heavy for what it is - probably because it's made from polyester instead of nylon. It is also very flimsy so probably will be a terror in wind especially if you can't manage to reach under the fly to attach the Velcro straps to the poles.

I own quite few tents from many brands, including Marmot, but have been looking for a small, freestanding 1 person tent/bivy shelter for use in the shoulder season in tight spots near treeline. There are many options out there but they are usually ultralight manufacturers and are very expensive and made with thin, delicate fabrics. The Tungsten 1P is a pretty solid overall model and I was pleased to fit in it with some space. (I am 6 ft 3 in tall). It is the usual solid contructionI expect from Marmot but had several disappointing features about it. First and foremost is the weight. It is advertised at 3 lbs 9 oz but my official measurements had it comfortably over 4 lbs with everything it came with. Even ditching the footprint that is really heavy for a 1 person freestanding tent. I have many 2 person tents in this weight range. Second issue was the amount of mesh. I specifically chose this model over the ultralight version because I'm using for shoulder season and wanted less mesh. The pictures so a nice high fabric front on the door/vestibule side, perfect for what I wanted, but the back wall opposite the door is all mesh down to the bathtub floor. Considering how heavy it already is I'm sure that is why this was chosen but it was not what I was expecting. The third issue I found was that the fabrics of the body and fly are quite baggy and sag unless you have a really taut pitch, which can be an issue depending on the type of ground you pitch it on. I think this will be particularly problematic on the all mesh back wall. The fly rests right on it and I suspect will let moisture through. This could have been alleviated or prevented with a short cross pole at the top, which adds some tension and better headroom. This is becoming a common feature on most new 1 person tents but is lacking in Marmot models. So all in all a well made tent and a good value but some of the design choices are disappointing and the weight could be an issue for many people. If weight is an issue and you'll be using the tent in warmer weather the ultralight version seems to be worth the extra money.

I recently completed the 20 mile Manistee River Loop Trail and spent two nights in this tent. I have absolutely no regrets about this purchase as the tent performed flawlessly. It is incredibly easy to set up/take down within minutes, had plenty of room for me inside and for my backpack in the vestibule, and there was adequate ventilation with no condensation despite the nights being cool. Best of all, the footprint is included so there is no additional expense for this important component to help protect the floor. All in all, I am extremely pleased with my Marmot 1p Tungsten Tent!

I bought this to go to Iceland camping with some expected winds. My Nemo Hornet lightweight may not be strong enough. I am happy with it's expected durability; but feel a little in the heavy side for this extra durability. The rain fly doesn't stay away from the tent even with the ties staked into the ground assisting. I do like the pocket at my head and smaller pocket in the roof. The included ground tarp is very nice that fits the right size for the tent.

This tent is not the lightest tent you could possibly buy, and being polyester ripstop requires DWR treatments to maintain its waterproofing, but it is still a great tent. I have pitched this tent in all kind of places, from car camping, to the highest points int he rockies. I used this tent during a two day thunderstorm near a summit and never had an issue with wind or rain. Being freestanding it easy to pitch on a varying types of terrain. The tent can be further secured using either pegs, or rocks to hold down the guy lines. The guy lines are also reflective at night. Inside there is a fair amount of space and the tent does not sag onto your face or feet if pitched correctly. There is a small pocket in the top corner that fits my headlamp perfectly at night and provides good light across the tent. There is also a hook in the top middle of the tent, and a traditional pocket by the entrance. The vestibule is a good size if you like to put your water, boots, or other gear outside your tent at night. The bathtub in this tent is also great, it wraps up far enough that there isn't concern about water getting over and in, although I would still suggest a mat that keeps you off and away from the ground. Like most standard tents this also includes a patch kit. Zipper draw strings are easy to use in good and bad weather. The small details in this tent are appreciated. There is a lot of value in this tent for the price.

I was looking for a tent to replace my very well used Marmot Peapod. Sure glad I chose to stay with Marmot and the Tungsten 1P. I wanted a smaller tent than I had before in order to save space in my sea kayak. Marmot knows how to build good tents!

I bought this tent specifically for backpacking trips & it does not disappoint. Light, small dimensions make it able to stuff in my pack with plenty of room for everything else I need. Sets up very quickly & is sturdy. Bonus points for great design - I get compliments on this whenever I bring it out in the backcountry.

I used this at a small festival, then bikepacking and backpacking! It's not heavy, easy to put together/take apart, and has the perfect amount of space for me and my dog.

Great tent and I fit in it at 6'5"! Vestibule kept my pack and misc stuff pretty dry during a wet three days on the Olympic coast backpacking. Condensation was the only problem until I kind of figured it out.

I'm a mountain guide currently sitting in the rain in this tent right now. I've lived in it all summer long, and I must say, it's done a great job. The fly keeps me nice and dry and the weight keeps me happy on the uphill. Never thought I would be a 1p tent kind of gal, but this tent changed my mind! Great option if you're looking for a home base to work from if you work outside. Highly recommend.

My first trip with my new Tungsten 1 Person tent was to Big Bend Ranch State Park last November. Temps ranged from lower 80's during the day to lower 40's at night. The tent weighed almost half what my previous one did. I was really happy about that. It also sets up in only a couple of minutes even when using the rain fly. On warmer nights the Tungsten was perfect without the fly. Great views of a star filled sky that way as well. On the coolest nights I was super comfortable with the fly on to help retain some heat. I was pleasantly surprised to find the air circulation was good enough to almost prevent all condensation from building up inside the fly. I am 6'2" and there was plenty of room for me and my long sleeping bag plus all of the gear that makes me happy to have close at hand. Don't misunderstand though; it is definitely a one person tent. After those 4 nights I would definitely recommend this tent. It has all of the quality you would expect from a premium brand like Marmot. Get one for yourself without fear of disappointment.

Fly solo with the Tungsten 1P backpacking tent. Clever engineer and strategic clip placement give you lots of headroom in case you need to retreat to your tent with a book when the bugs come out. Durable and spacious for a 1P tent, it goes together with a few snaps for easy setup.
