As much as I want to luv he jacket it has failed me on two counts. First is how the jacket is tapered from the chest down to the waist making the waist a very narrow fit. That alone coupled with the long length of the jacket make it uncomfortable to sit down in a chair with it fully zipped. I am 511 36inch waist 205 pounds. Secondly after wearing the jacket in very light weather for 6 days I noticed a hole was created on the front bottom near the pocket thus the jacket is now leaking feathers. After contacting Sunny's about this issue I was told SORRY you have to contact Mountain Hardware for a warranty repair. After getting ahold of MH I was told because this is their high season for warranty repairs It would take at least 6-9 weeks for a repair or I could go buy some Tenacious Tape and the hole for now. To me that suck to have to pay full price then the material rips within a week of daily wear. Needless to say I am very less than please and ended up going out.

I am a fan of Mountain Hardwear puffy jackets. The Nitrous is a solid offering, the 800 fill power somewhat making up for decreased fill weight that makes this a great lightweight backpacking jacket. I'm not taking it to Antarctica, but it will make a great insulating layer here in Texas and most of the surrounding Southwestern U.S. where I like to travel. The only strange thing on this purchase was the size. I'm usually a solid Mountain Hardwear Large at 6'2'' / 195. This time, I had to send the large back in favor of an XL, specifically because the bottom hem of the jacket was too tight. Every other review says they are true to size, so maybe mine was a one-time mistake. Whatever, the customer service at Sunny Sports was great and I ended up with the best fit (with minimal hassle).

This all-around technical jacket is lightweight, durable, and packable. The Nitrous is features hydrophobic 800 fill power down, which means the fine feathers will resist climbing and will retain their loft even when wet. The unique baffle pattern makes this a stylish workhorse for both backcountry and city use.
