These are great tents for my purpose, Raft camping. I had one that has lasted me during many many weeks of camping in all weather. When I saw they were discontinued I bought another to save back and use when my first one wears out. They are heavy and I can't imagine backpacking with it. But that's why it is so durable.

We used this tent a dozen times last summer, and were excited to take it out again. When we arrived the elastic tension ropes had weakened over the winter and snapped when we were setting up camp. Tents were stored in dry conditions over the winter, so please let me know if this is common related to user issues or just unlucky. Jeff Carlson

Made with very sturdy and thick material construction. Excellent for heavy duty use during family and Scout use. High vented ceiling that would be easy for any camper to sit up and move around easily. We got a 3-person tent for two Scouts occupancy; gives the Scouts extra room for their bags and gear and still have plenty of space to sprawl out and sleep comfortably.

This tent is very simple to put up and take down. Small enough for the back of a motorcycle and roomy enough to store my gear at night. Very happy with my decision.

This tent is built very durable, light and we'll designed. One use I had with it it rained all day and the wind blew. When we had returned to camp the inside of the tent was dry. So much rain came that water had accumulated under the tent in between the pad, but it did not feel damp on the inside! I love this tent and look forward to using it for many more years!

I bought the Outfitter Pro 3 here at SunnySports in March 2016. It is a very rugged tent that is very easy to set up or break down. There are only two identical poles. It's very comfy for 2 people and you could definitely sleep 3. The vestibules are ample for packs and boots and the double doors make access easy for 2 people. On the other hand, because of the heavyweight fabrics Kelty uses in this tent, the tradeoff for durability is weight. Other 3 person 3 season tents can weigh in 1-2 lbs lighter. I'm a 6'0" tall guy who weighs about 215 lbs. I don't obsess over the weight. But some people would call this a car camping tent. I like the simple design and sturdiness more than I care about 2 lbs. It does not come with a gear loft but Kelty provides the attachment points for one. I added the Kelty gear loft for another few bucks and I find it a great "quality of life" upgrade for the money. No more worrying about crushing your eyeglasses on the floor of the tent or digging around for your cell phone. I still have plenty of headroom with the gear loft in place. After owning the tent for a year, I highly recommend it for 2 or 3 people. If you're backpacking solo, the weight is probably a bit much.

I have three Outfitter Pro 3's in my lineup of tents. I rent gear often and use them on week long guided trips In The Bahamas. There has been no other tent stand up to the harsh enviroment of the tropics like these tents. They are a bit heavy, but their sturdiness outweighs the drawback of their weight. While other tents I have have begun leaking and the poles have snapped, these tents remain strong with almost no issues whatsoever. I was a little surprised by the fact that the zippers can pull straight off if you pull them too hard, but I found sewing a small button at the bottom of one side has eliminated that problem. As long as these tents keep being made to this level of ruggedness there will always be a few in my inventory!

I bought this tent a few weeks ago and have spent one week in it so far. We had two adult men in it at 20 deg F with zero condensation. The highest wind gusts we had were about 20 mph which didn't seem to phase the tent at all. I know this isn't the lightest 3 person tent on the market. But it seems like the best balance of size, ruggedness, and weight. I wanted something that will last and something that won't let me down. The fabrics and coatings on this tent plus heavier than usual DAC press fit poles make it worth the extra 2lbs or so for me. Aside from the ruggedness, I wanted a tent that is easy to set up and take down. This is a classic dome tent with 2 identical poles and Kelty provides color coded connection points for the footprint (optional), tent, and rain fly. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes for one person just taking their time. The tent body connects with twist clips and two snaps at the top. It's easy to set up even in low light or rain. The features are well thought out and executed like the self storage pockets sewn into the fly for the guy lines and two pockets inside the tent for small stuff. I like the colors Kelty chose as well. With the rain fly on, the tent is highly visible in early morning or evening light. Cons.....it really comes down to bundling products and weight. For some reason, Kelty sells this tent without a footprint or gear loft. But both are available and I bought both. In my opinion it would make sense to sell a complete tent with the footprint and gear loft. A footprint is easier to clean and cheaper to replace than a tent floor. And the gear loft while not necessary sure makes life a loft easier. And yes, you can find a tent closer to 6lbs than the 8 lbs of this tent but for me the weight was not a huge consideration. So what about the price? I think at the price this tent is a great value and a reliable shelter that will last for years while being easy to live with. So I bought one.

I've often found that buying a tent has a lot more to do with the purpose of its use. I bought this tent a few months ago with the intention of having a durable, seriously waterproof 3-person shelter for car camping on climbing trips. I found it to be very well made. The poles are more reinforced than any other tend I've owned. The tent fabric is think and tear resistant. Unlike so many other tents, it just feels solid. Regarding waterproofness, we were caught in an all night downpour and not a drop got inside the tent. In fact, we hadn't even set the tent up correctly and the rainfly was in contact with the tent and still nothing got wet. Pretty impressive. I highly recommend this. I selected this tent over the Gunnison but I suspect both are good tents.

I have six 5 day camping trips for work with this tent. This tent is exactly what it claims. Strong, durable, and built to last. I have not had to hike with the tent in my pack on any of the trips, so i can not say if the weight is worth the durability, the tent is heavy and bulky, because kelty use stronger and thicker material for the floor and other items, the tent does not compress down much, and would take up a larger space in my backpack then a lightweight 3 man tent, but i did not get this tent for weight of size i bought it to last, and i need it for heavy use year round, and i am so happy i made that decision. The first thing i noticed was how think the tent poles are, the zipper all the way through the floor is heavy duty, as for me at this moment the weight and size is worth every penny if not more. 12 years in hawaii conservation restoration.
