I got this for a comfortable base camp for two people. It's exactly what we needed. Lots of room to house our Hest mattresses, great rainfly, effective venting system and durable for rain/wind. We set this up on a pine straw bedding understory. We had plenty of room to hold gear and not feel crammed in the tent.

For the price this tent is hard to beat. We have 4 trips and 9 nights in it. Have been rained on twice and held up great. Vents better than expected when staked out correctly and condensation hasn't been an issue yet. Not a huge fan of the bent poles as they will turn sideways under wind pressure. Two vestibules would have been nice as would have two doors. Also would be nice if it worked with a quick pitch setup (ie no tent body) that you see similar products marketed as backpacking tents being able to do. On the note we have backpacked with this we are a family of 4 with two young get ones so my wife and I divide up the tent amount our bags and it works well.

I own the old version of the Late Start 2 and have loved it as a solo backpacking tent. Now that my wife and kids are interested in venturing out, I needed a budget friendly option that wasn't also 12 lbs, and the Late Start 4 fit that bill. Extremely easy setup and this tent fits the 5 of us (2 adults and 3 kids under 7 yrs) across. I'm a lifelong fan of Kelty for making quality equipment at an accessible price.
