Michael Z : Do yo have one that is higher? 25 inchesLAURA G : I found it very uncomfortable to sit on this stool at the height I bought. The tops of the 3 legs ended up poking me in my derrier when I sat on it. I'm actually trying to figure out how to modify it to be SHORTER, so the angle of the tops of the legs will be more horizontal [hopefullly more comfortable?].

Great for people with bad backs!

Fabulous product! As I get older, I'm finding it harder and harder to stand for long periods of time. So, for example, at last Saturday's "No Kings" rally, I brought it along with me and I was ready to sit down to listen to all the speakers.

The chair is great, but the cover tore on the top of the seam. Should I return just the cover, for replacement? Thank you for asking! Kathleen

So pleased with the seat

So pleased with the seat height on this PackSeat! So many are too short and the 20" seat height allows me to sit more comfortably without feeling like I'm sitting on a child's chair. I love that it easily packs down into a small bag that can be attached to a belt loop to leave my hands free for carrying other things.

Bag could be better. And whats with the indestructible label.

Chair good. No should strap for the bag is annoying. And what is up with the stupid bag label. You have to cut it off as it can't be torn. Why not just use a normal tag with plastic ring. This leaves a visible down the side of the bag, because you can't cleanly cut it off. And It flaps in the wind, so I am not leaving it on. It is idiotic.

Function and looks are very good. Reason for good vs great is the ripped label on the seat metal pole. 'Love the carabiner! I can attach it to the GCI camp chair I received for Mother's Day.

SUPERLATIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

My husband and I received a pair of GCI Packseats as a wedding gift, MORE THAN 17 YEARS AGO. We have used them and loved them, but they wore out. When recently cleaning out, I contemplated throwing them away (the seat portion was too frayed to reliably use), but when I noticed how well-made the stool was in general, I decided to see if GCI could sell me a replacement seat. When I called customer service, they immediately said they would replace both stools entirely because they are backed by a lifetime warranty. And so they did. I would buy anything from GCI - what a special company. The replacements were shipped promptly and are the same, if not better, quality. We are so happy with GCI; we look forward to another two decades plus using these Packstools. Thank you.

The PackSeats seem great. I like how easy it is to fold and unfold them. Quality seems good. The only issue was with the packaging. The two stools came in an old box, with no packaging material. The box was crushed, with two ends completely open. It had food product stickers, and clearly had been used for other uses. I'm not sure how the stools remained inside or were delivered in seemingly good shape.

I use it when I walk the golf course and it is just about perfect. The only minor nit I have is the feet could have more of a footprint so they don't go into wet ground. Very minor quibble. Lightweight yet holds my 210# bodyweight no problem. Easy to use. Awesome!

I have a back problem

I have a back problem and sometimes need to sit down when on long hikes. The PACKSEAT is the solution for me and possible many "older" people with health issues but enjoy long walks on remote trails. This was an excellent purchase. Excellent service. If there is such a thing as a "perfect purchase" this comes very close. PDR

VERY compact, which was my #1 priority. I use this primarily while I am photographing wildlife. LOts of time sitting, but I am already carrying tons of camera gear; no room for a bulky chair. This is probably not the most comfortable piece of gear available, but it is reasonably comfortable and certainly more so than sitting in mud or snow or wet grass For its folded size, weight, and durability, it works perfectly for my needs.

Gear Snob Bottom Line: Buy the Chair!

Let me start by saying I am a bit of a gear snob and a skeptic (bad combination). I will spend top dollar on something to not have to go through the hassle of replacing or warrantying a lower quality product many times over. Also, I find things wrong with products, it's what I do, much to my wife's chagrin. While there is certainly some room for grace, the last thing I want to do is spend my hard earned money on a product that is going to make me stranded or drenched out in the bush. Having said that, I have long looked for a lightweight chair to take with me on hiking treks. Whether carrying kids or hiking solo, after many miles I've often longed to sit on a nice comfy chair when I am furthest away while in the woods. My skepticism, and questioning of the extra weight, has always positioned me to take a seat on an (unbeknownst to me) ant infested log or better yet, I deprive myself of this needed rest. Enter the GCI PackSeat - this is where it's at. Weighing in at 1lb 5 oz (600g for you weight weenies), this chair comes in a convenient case that can easily be shed to save even more precious grams. Additionally, it comes with a handy carabiner that you can use to easily clip the chair to your pack. Really, what company includes everything you need these days? New pack? Buy a rain cover. New tent? Buy a footprint. New mountain bike? Upgrade all the touch points?I digress. GCI has clearly thought it all out. The PackSeat is plug and play, you don't even have to search the bottom of your gear box for a carabiner! I am 6'1", 175 and this chair is plenty comfortable. I've seen other reviews that address it not being sturdy?well, it's a three legged chair, it's going to feel different than a four legged chair, amirite? Unless you sit on three legged chairs 24/7, you just can't complain that a chair with three legs isn't as sturdy as a chair with four legs?it's not supposed to be. Is this chair for toddlers? No. It's for anyone that is looking to take a load off, for instance to fuel up while looking out among a wide expanse, and then some. Let's be clear, you shouldn't expect a plush backed chair where you can sit for hours and hours, and besides, you shouldn't be looking for that here anyway. Bottom line: This chair will get the job done. Don't expect it to be a La-Z-Boy, and don't buy this for your kid. Buy the chair for yourself and enjoy the extra "oomph" it will give you when you turn your boots around and head back down the mountain.
