This coat checks all the boxes for cold, rainy PNW weather: 1. Mid-weight insulation: perfect on its own, and no need to wear a base layer; and 2. Good for rain: shell is water resistant and the hood has all of the drawcords you'd expect in a raincoat. My primary complaint with this coat is the pocket liners, which are made from the type of fleece that will catch on dry, cracked hands. This seems to be an issue with a lot of Columbia products, but was also present on TNF Influx jacket I tried on.

Those of us who have to traverse the urban winter landscape know that whichever winter coat we pick has to not only function well but also look darn good. This is where the Rugged Path jacket shines. This cold weather garment is crafted of a waterproof-breathable fully seam sealed outer shell, lined with Omni-Heat thermal reflective liner, and is packed with synthetic insulation. Unlike down feathers which clump up when wet, synthetic insulation works even in the presence of water. This winter season get a jacket that makes you look as good as you feel.
