Many years ago, I injured my back (sports related), so finding a backpack that I could actually keep on for more than just a short time has been difficult. I had heard about a few different backpacks with back protectors, and was very interested. Pros of this bag are the back protector, size, tool pouch, area to hold my helmet, and the fact that it's not as wide as the bag I use to wear, so it doesn't bounce around. Some cons: I wish the waist strap were a bit longer, and I wish the dual sternum straps were a bit shorter. I am about a 36/38 waist, and can tighter the waist strap a bit. If I were any bigger, the waist strap wouldn't fit. I wish the pockets on the waist strap were (1) easier to reach and (2) poofier to hold more while the waist strap is fully tightened. I am not super wide in the area where the dual sternum straps are located, so I have to tighten them all the way, and wish they even went a bit tighter. The top lined pocket is great for my sunglasses. I have the Spy McCoy. Anything bigger may not fit. I have a few allen wrenches I carry in the tool pouch and then a 6" wrench I have in the tool pouch but not in one of the mesh zippered pockets. My POC Crane Pure helmet fits really well in the helmet compartment, and my small Camelbak water bottle fits nicely in one of the side bottle pockets. Like any bag, I do sweat if I wear this bag for quite a while. However, unlike my previous bag, I don't heat up while wearing this bag nearly as much, and if I need to take the bag off, it's not uncomfortable to put back on (even though it is a bit damp). The bag comes with a Camelbak water bladder, but I'm not sure if I will use it or not, as I worry about cleaning it. The zippers work fine, but I do wish they were higher quality. One side pocket has a zipper, the other has no closure except a flap (I guess it's for an energy bar, if you're into those). Comes with a rain cover, but I haven't used this bag in the rain. I hope I never need the back protector, but it's nice to know it's there. My injury from years ago is permanent. Almost two years walking with a cane, twice in physical therapy. Daily exercises I learned while in P.T. This bag is very light, and worth every penny, especially at Sunny Sports prices. I'm not sure dual sternum straps are necessary. The back padding is comfortable, and so are the straps. The waist strap could use a bit more padding, but it works okay as-is. I wish it was pure black. Even the newer version that is black has orange straps. If Camelbak reads this, black, pure black.
