Bought this etrier to use as an escape tool when canyoneering. It packs up small and is light weight. The reinforced steps are a huge plus. It is easy to set this up and use. I have clipped to my harness and dragged it through canyons and it shows very little wear.

These are my first "full-size" commercially manufactured aiders. Though I have been using the lighter "Alpine Aiders" for the mountains, I had been using home-made etriers (3 on walls since the 80s. I got the 6-steps and use the Alpines as sub-aiders with my new Etriers full-time now.

I purchased these rather than something like the Yates ladder-style aiders due to price and weight considerations. Based on the picture, I was somewhat concerned they would be a little too light weight and twist and/or wear quickly. When I got them I was pleasantly surprised at how beefy they are yet still pretty lightweight and compact. On the one route I've used them on, I had no issue with twisting and they showed no wear after being drug up a sandstone wall in Zion.

Black Diamond Etrier
The Black Diamond Etrier is a solid and well-designed aider for your climbing experiences. It is very light weight that allows you to climb further with less effort. It comes with reinforced steps, something very useful because it also keeps the steps open. It is available in five and six steps, so you can choose depending on your needs. It has a durable design that makes a classic among the wall ladders. It is also a very durable ladder and it doesn't wear out that easily, which also makes it very safety. Its classic design makes it very comfortable to carry and to use in any type of rock. These types of ladders are very intuitive to use. The Black Diamond Etrier is a light and easy option to keen on going.
