We haven't taken our new Copper Spur 3 out yet, but we set it up in the house and were impressed with how spacious it is. We're replacing an old Copper Spur 3 and I'm loving the updated interior storage and looking forward to trying out the hiking pole supported awnings. Backpacking is always fun, and I'm excited to be extra comfortable this year.

This is my primary tent, used for multi season backpacking. I love how lightweight it is, and yet it still feels sturdy. It sets up super easily, packs down easily, and is very spacious inside. I would suggest getting the footprint as well. I haven't yet, and am worried when using the tent on anything except soft ground without rocks or pine needles (hard to come by).

We successfully went Rim2Rim in the Grand Canyon fitting 3 grown men, we were a bit snug but 3 men!! The gear pockets inside allow for great organization and with how easily the tent packs and travels it really can go anywhere, do anything!

I use this while motocamping and had been great so far. Seems like it would hold up pretty well in crappy weather with all the stake out points. Easy to set up and super light weight.

I was recently using a heavy 2 man backpacking tent from north face that weighed about a pound more than this THREE man. I decided I had been on enough backpacking trips to know I liked the hobby and wanted to start investing in UL gear. I had been looking at big Agnes for a long time and finally pulled the trigger on the copper spur UL 3 after going back and forth between with the tiger wall UL 3. I ultimately chose the copper spur for its freestanding design as I usually don't carry stakes with me and the tiger wall had to be staked out for full use of space. So far this tent has been to Sedona, Inyo NF, and Havasupai. It's stood up to rain and lighting storms with weather in the 30s in the Inyo kept me warm and dry all night long even though I had a river going through camp I shared the tent with my sister and had enough room to throw our packs in with us to keep them dry. Havasupai I shared the tent again with my sister and had more than enough space for the two of us to be comfortable we chose to sleep without the fly and had a beautiful view of the stars thanks to the mesh construction on this tent. I love how easy it is to get in and out of weather the flys are staked out or rolled up. I am 5'10 and found this tent to be more than roomy. It is extremely lightweight I do find myself babying the material as much as possible because it seems easy to damage but if you take good care of your gear it will treat you well! Convinced my friend to invest in one of these tents who is also using the same north face I previously had after she felt how lightweight mine was without compromising on the extra room! :) **also LOVED all the gear lofts in this tent they actually held a lot of weight and I were roomier than the looked**

I use the tent with a partner during trail projects. It's light weight really helps to offset the trail tools we have to carry in.

Love this tent. super easy to set up: the fly, tent and ground tarp all have color coded corners, so its super intuitive. Even though its rated for three people, they would need to be very small people. Two people would be very comfortable.

This has been a great tent for us, especially when backpacking. I take a number of my kids each year, and just because of weight and people setup, my boys have often ended up being the ones to use this tent. It has held up nicely, and that's saying something as they are not always the most gentle. They are boys, after all. The setup is easy and quick, even for youngsters, and there is plenty of room inside if you keep it to two adults, or three kids. That's pretty typical for tent sizing. The storage is incredible and very well laid out. It even works well for spreading things out that might need to dry a little. I also took this one winter camping and had no issues. No condensation to speak of, though it was extremely windy. That probably helped in terms of venting, but it held sturdy through the whole weekend. The trip was a little brutal with the wind, but the tent held firm. The only hiccup I ran into was snow build up in the clips for the rainfly. That was easily remedied with my breath, but if it had been dirt, it could be a little more challenging to clean out. I've not had that issue yet, though. All in all, this is a great tent. The two man version is on my list to potentially purchase because of how well this tent has done.

customer service was great we sent in a request and they sent a new corner with instructions and it went smoothly. tent is light breaths well if you stake it down great if you dont have to use the fly the netting is clear for stargazing.

This is one of the best tents I ever owned. I also have the two-person for backpacking but got this because the two-person is a bit tight for two adults. Very durable, stood up to 30-40 mph winds on the beach. But sand was able to make it under the fly eventually and we slept in sand which was not good. There is ventilation features but if the sun hits the tent in the morning, unobstructed, it's like an oven in there. The newer versions look a little better in this respect. After 10 years, the seam tape is coming off; I re-glued them but it didn't work perfectly. I also popped a hole in the fly stretching it over the pole for the awning over the vestibule. I will patch it and keep trucking. Over 10 years and hundreds of nights out in the elements, I'd say I got my money's worth. My seven year old was able to set up the tent by herself!

Bought this tent for backpacking and have used it for that and it is the first tent (own three) I grabbed when heading out for mountain bike festivals, general camping excursions, etc. it is so easy to set up and I have stayed dry in several downpours. We got the three man because our dogs goes backpacking with us, so we split the tent between both of our bags. Not sure how backpacking solo would be with the size, but I'm not there yet.

"I recently camped at Hume Lake Campground in Sequoia National Park and got caught in a storm that lasted over seven hours. My Big Agnes tent held up flawlessly-no leaks, no issues, and it kept me completely dry and comfortable the whole time. Couldn't be happier with this purchase!"

Care Instructions
Storage
Always make sure your tent is dry and free of debris before storing. Fold and roll your tent a different way each time to avoid permanent creases. Store in a cool, dry place. Never leave your tent in hot temperatures (such as a car trunk or attic space) for long periods of time, as it will damage the material coatings. Storing your tent damp can result in mildew growth, which may cause your tent to smell, leak, or delaminate. Mildew damage is not covered under warranty.
Cleaning
For light cleaning, sponge the product with warm water (not hot).
For more thorough cleaning you will need
Wash basin (or bath tub)-Warm water (not hot)
Waterproof Gear Cleaner (Big Agnes recommend products like Nikwax Tech Wash)
Sponge
Submerge your gear in warm, clean water. Gently agitate with hands. Empty dirty water. Repeat until most of the excess dirt/grime is removed and water is mostly clear
Apply waterproof gear specific wash and gently work into fabric with sponge
Rinse gear thoroughly
Hang it up to dry
Triple check that your gear is completely dry before storage or use
Do not dry clean or machine-wash. Detergents and dry cleaning solvents will damage the fabric and ruin waterproofing
Never use hot water, bleach, liquid detergents, or dishwashing liquids
Allow to dry COMPLETELY before storage or use
Avoid prolonged direct sunlight as UV exposure can compromise waterproofing
Seam Sealing
Big Agnes tents are seam sealed as part of their manufacturing process! This seam tape alone is durable enough to prevent water leakage. Any seams that have been taped do not need to be seam sealed with a liquid sealer unless you want extra protection. Make sure the seam-sealer is completely dry before re-packing your tent. Damage caused by misapplication may void warranty.
Zippers
Keeping your zippers clean will help keep the coils and sliders from wearing out. If filled with dirt, vacuum or brush zippers before storing tent. Big Agnes recommend Gear Aid Zipper Cleaner and Lubricant.
