Review Summary

I'm so happy with the weight, spaciousness, and packability of this tent, especially for a three person. It packs small enough to fit between my Ritchy Venturemax bars for bikepacking and I appreciate the durable fabric and daisy chains built into the stuff sack that make it easy to attach to my Salsa Anything Cradle. I have a Fly Creek UL2 that's about 10 years old now and still going strong that I will use as a solo backpacking or as a 2-person ultralight set up, but I will definitely be using this tent for any backpacking trips with 2-3 people moving forward!

The only difference between the standard Copper Spur and the bikepack version is the short length of the pole sections. This tent packs down into a very small footprint, perfect for motorcycle camping!

I love how spacious the tent feels set up and how small it packs down. The only downside so far is the fragile corner clips. I've broken a few already in clipping the fly down.

I love how well this packs on my bike. And, the gear storage lofts are fantastic. I thought that going with the 3 person version was a bit excessive. But, there wasn't really any weight penalty and I love the space I have for me and my gear. I did strap my trekking poles to my rig when I used it the first time. But, I probably won't do that again. I didn't really use the porch set-up. Although, when I'm not on the bike and instead out backpacking, it will be a useful feature to keep out of the sun at times. Love this thing.

The 12" poles have finally arrived and are the sole reason to purchase this tent. The other "features" are for proprietary and planned obsolescence reasons. The center spider thing is silly and makes breaking the tent down and storing it awkward and tedious- It would be a huge improvement, stronger and lighter to simply have two poles cross in the middle with a proprietary plastic clip attached to the tent. The existing proprietary corner clips fill with sand/dirt and should be replaced by eye-rivets which the poles could stake through like most other tents. Although the provided stakes are light, they are tiny and stupid and should be replaced with standard stakes.

Recently retired and planning to travel internationally on a motorcycle. Currently gearing it up and I bought this tent because its size works very well when packing up my motorcycle.

I hike with the UL2 for myself. I got the UL3 for when my partner and dog join me on the hikes and it's a great amount of space. The only con was the stakes that came with the UL3 weren't as sturdy as the ones that came with the UL2.
