Perfect for slipping in the BC pocket for daytime dives where a light might allow a look into a deep recess. I use this for both primary and backup lights at night, since the bright beam really improves focusing attention on what is hiding on and under the coral or in the wreck.

Got this for my 11 year old son. It has a bright and narrow beam and penetrates good. We used it night diving in the pool and in the lake with low vis and have not had any problems with it. Good light for the money. also would make a good spare for night diving.

Great light. Focused beam. Went diving in some caverns with it this past week and it worked great.

Good for use in daytime also, looking in nooks for sea life, a must have, I carry it with me on all dive. Good back-up for a night dive but would not use as a main light.

This is a very compact light. I use it both for dives and outside as well. The light is intense and battery life is very long. It easily fits into the BC pocket. I have another one with LEDs but I prefer the SL4 because it is brighter.

This is a nice compact light. The flat shape fits easily into your BCD pocket. The beam is tighter than my Princeton Tec 400 and it is maybe just a bit brighter. It is easier to get in and out of my BCD pocket than the Princeton. My wife really likes the size and weight too. The slightly lighter weight makes it a good choice for traveling. The batteries are a little tricky getting in, but no worse than my NiteRider dive light. I would prefer that it had a magnetic switch, although the mechanical switch seems rugged enough. The switch placement on the front of the light make it a little awkward to use at first until you get used to it. It is bright enough to be used as a primary dive light in clear water or as a good backup in lower vis diving. It would probably be adequate as a third or forth backup light for overhead environment diving too. It's size also makes it a great light for using on daytime dives when you want to look under a dark ledge to see who's hiding or those late afternoon dives that almost turn into night dives. If you are traveling, I would recommend buying a spare bulb to take with you. This light gets pretty warm out of the water. If you travel with it, pack the batteries separately so it will not turn on accidentally in your dive bag and cause a problem. You can also find a good LED replacement bulb on one of those famous (infamous?) online auction sites that is a lot brighter than the OEM bulb. Typical rugged and reliable UK quality. This light offers a very good value.[...].

Having owned and/or used several dive lights during my 23 years of diving I can attest to the superiority of the Underwater Kinetics products. They are very durable and well built having experienced only one malfunction (wouldn't shut off) with one product EVER. Even though I had owned this SL4 unit for nine years, UK made things right with NO hassle. They really stand behind their products... you can't ask for anything better than that kind of customer service. I will NEVER buy anything other than UK products.

I had one of these since 1996 and took it on 100+ dives. I finally dropped something heavy on it and broke it. Luckily they still make it.

Great focused beam to look under ledges and in small crevices. Awesome light. Last one I had did begin to leak but it must have been something I did as my buddy has had his almost 10 years now with no issues. He is more careful with his gear than I am . Have used light to 150 feet.

Small, powerful light! I keep it in my BC pocket at all times. Great for lighting up crevices in daytime and powerful enough to be used as a main light at night!

Great small light. Easily fits in your BC pocket or if you attach a clip, you can clip it on a D-ring on your BC. Either way, it is compact and gives good light. I have a SL6 as well but it is awkward to put in the BC pockets and is cumbersom clipped on the outside of the BC. Overall I far prefer the SL4 for its smaller, more compact size.

If this one is like my UK Mini Q40, I'm going to love it. I didn't mark any of the pros besides size as I've only put it to use 3x. It is heavy and large for what I'm accustomed to (the Q40 is rather tiny), but it is much smaller and lighter than the average person's main dive light. Using it on a night dive in Monterey as my main dive light, it was perfect! And I always remove the batteries after using it, to prolong the life of the batteries.

I have used this light for night dives and cavern dives. The beam of light it produces is very intense, but it may be too narrow for some purposes. Overall is works great. It fits in my BC pockets and it is easy to handle. Battery life is great as well.

Night or twilight dives in the ocean often have enough natural light that the large lights can spoil your night vision. This one puts a small, powerful spot on objects requiring further observation. The narrow beam does not create the halo of particles around it like a wide beam light. Might not be as good if it is REAL dark.

I have used this light in fresh water and saltwater and have never had a problem. I own two of these and have recommended them to others.

Perfect for slipping in the BC pocket for daytime dives where a light might allow a look into a deep recess. I use this for both primary and backup lights at night, since the bright beam really improves focusing attention on what is hiding on and under the coral or in the wreck.
The SL4 has to be the smallest and brightest 4 "C" cell dive light ever made! It emits a narrow and penetrating beam, which allows you to seek out unique marine life found under ledges. It also works well when attached to protective head gear in technical diving applications. The SL4 is great as a photo spotting light or to illuminate gauges and dive tables. Light fits neatly in a BCD pocket so it's always ready for use with its 5.5 watt high pressure xenon filled lamp. Tough, non-conductive ABS and polycarbonate plastic construction will not corrode, dent or freeze to skin in cold weather, and it comes with an adjustable rubber sleeved lanyard.
The SL4's Xenon lamp produces 113 lumens of brightness with a precision machined aluminum reflector that gives a tight 8° degree beam angle. The light has an 804' (425 meter) beam distance on land. To reduce glare and protect the light, the SL4 comes with a molded rubber bezel cover. The rotary switch is easily activated with the thumb and index finger for single hand operation. The Light is powered by 4 x C"-cell alkaline batteries (included) with a burn time of 4 to 5 hours. The light measures 6.3" x 1.8" x 2.5" (16 x 4.57 x 6.35 cm), weighs 15 oz (425.24 g) and is depth rated to 500' (152.4 meters). The SL4 is available in multiple colors, includes an owner's manual, is proudly made in the USA and is covered by a limited lifetime warranty.
