this light is small, but it's pretty bright. I use it as my primary and every time I go night fishing and need a reliable waterproof light, this is my go-to. It is not superbly bright, but you don't want it to be blinding, it is great how it is. The light diffuses, no sharp edges like other lights that form perfect circles. Twist on and off is very easy to use and reliable. Takes 4 AA batteries and burns for 5-6 hours. It's really reliable and goes through the batteries very slowly, very long-lasting. Definitely recommended. Great light! Get 4 rechargeable AA and you're set! I tried using the strap, and it doesn't work for me, so don't count on it. I just hook a camera strap to the back and it goes around my wrist.

I haven't tested it in water, but, I especially like the strap that allows you to attach the light to one side of your mask strap. Hands free is a nice option and always best for night dives. It twists on and off and that should reduce the chances of a button malfunctioning.

With my new head light everyone knows that I'm coming. My dive partner took a picture of me in some murky water and could see me with no problem. I could not feel it on my OTS full face mask but could see the beam. It makes looking at my gauges a lot easier and hands free.

I do not dive, but I use these lights for hunting. Work great, and are water proof. This model in especially works great. If you drop it after day light, there is no doubt were it is at.

Used down to 80ft with no problems. Good center beam with adequate peripheral light to illuminate but not blind the fish!

I order one of these for my wife and one for myself for a snorkeling trip to Baja. When we received the package only one of the lamps were working properly, the other one had a short of some sort, and did not work. I took the working Mini Q40 along with a UKSL4, while the Q40 had a weaker beam this tiny lamp has a great light that brings the true colors of the corals and the fishes at night. Given its price, I would only recommed the lamp ONLY if you are willing to go through the trouble of returning it in case yours is also broken.

Great as backup torch. Good for small caverns discovery and inspecting dark places under stones or similar.

Use it for lobster diving.Small, very bright, fairly reliable(I say this because the old xenon version sometimes just dies after a while, usually at least a couple years,or starts working intermittently). But,UK is very good about replacing them. Most of my dive buddies use UK lights.

Excellent as a primary light for night diving in clear tropical water. Also good for peeking into crevices during day dives. We use rechargeable LiIon batteries, charging them after the day's dives are done.

I use my Q40 to help me poke around in crack/holes in the reef and walls. I carry 2 on night dives, one as primary and another attached to my BC with a mini retractor for a backup.

This light is well suited as a backup light. At about 6" long, it may be a little big to store in many BCD pockets, but will fit in most large to XL sizes.

as a cave diver for over 20 years I have found this light to be invaluable due to its ruggedness, brightness, burn time, and compact placement on the mask strap for hands free operation. I use two as not only secondary backups but whenever hands free operation is needed-fiddling with gear, reading gauges, needing two hands for high flow navigation, or simply needing a light walking to & from the water in the dark. It is the perfect combination of brightness, burn time, and size. I recommend this light to beginning divers as well for its practicality and reliability.

attached to mask for several night dives - works great. Only problem is you need two hands to turn off and on.

This is a great little backup light. I don't recommend putting it on your mask as you will blind your buddy every time you look at them. This is the second one I have bought as my fist flooded. It was probably my fault, I changed out the batteries and packed it for a week of diving in Bonaire. It spent all 28 dives in a BCD pocket and when I was doing the final rinse before coming home, I discovered it had opened. That is why I am not a huge fan of the twist on style of lights. I fed the silicone strap through a bolt snap so I can clip it off to my BCD.

The light says 4 hours of battery life, and its on the money. I am considering using rechargeables.

Great light of equal (or greater) intensity of larger units. I've owned one for awhile. Bought this one so my wife would quit stealing it.

Be careful not to turn bezel too much when turning off, since it is easy to flood light.

this light came free with a set of fins i bought. i mounted it on the tip of my speargun for use in low light under ledges. this light can be easily attached to you inflator hose as a back up or to you mask strap to move around with your line of sight. i have two primary smaller lights and a large light cannon that i would not replace with this light, but if you had this light stored in a pocket or straped somewhere out of the way it would be great for a backup

When Q40 introduced I bought three of them. I loved the idea to have continuously a light wherever you look on. Then Underwater Kinetics introduced the eLed plus and I bought one of these Just to check it.There was no comparison between the two except the casing. As result I sold my Three previews Q40.

Great backup light. I wear mine on mask strap.
Lobster diving or photography can really get your hands full. How do I keep light on my subject or that five-pound lobster with either my camera or game bag or hunting tools in hand? The high-intensity Mini Q40 eLED Plus is lightweight enough to attach to your mask strap for hands-free illumination of camera settings, hunting, gauges and close-up marine life. It outshines many lights three times its size. Light comes equipped with a mask strap attachment and 2-watt high brightness eLED lamp. Works well as a photographer spotting light. MiniQ40 light fits Sea & Sea, Ultra-Light and other camera mounting adapters. All this versatility in a tough ABS polycarbonate body with rubber shock resistant bezel cover makes the Mini Q40 the light for you.
This unique light produces 77 lumens of brightness with the single eLED lamp with a beam distance of 328' (100 meters) on land. The light is powered by 4 AA alkaline batteries (included) with a burn time of 4 to 5 hours. With optional lithium batteries the light will get a burn time of 9 to 10 hours.
