My first therma rest sleeping pad was from the 80s and it allowed a good night's sleep. The tradition continues

Our clients love using these mattresses. They conform to everyones body shape, keeps you warm and packs easily into a sea plane. I highly recommend thermarest!

I did not believe a pad this thin would be comfortable or be a barrier in the cold. I am extremely impressed even after a 40 degree night camping last fall. I was snuggle and comfortable all night.

This is a great air mattress. We primarily use it for car camping and put two together along with a foam pad. The air mattress really helps prevent heat loss to the ground.

I bought this for my mom originally. She's 90 and still loves camping, but can't backpack anymore. Then I bought one for my husband and finally wised up and bought one for myself! My husband and I put our 2 together, put on a fitted sheet, top sheet, & down comforter and we are styling!Mine is the newest and has the new valve that you twist to release the air so your not losing air as you take another breath to blow it up. Yeah, I make sure that I have marked that as mine. Makes it easier and faster to blow it up.

Great large, comfortable, and warm pad. It packs large, but I often strap it to the bottom or top of my pack when I backpack in the shoulder seasons, or at high elevation in the summer. Easy to pull on a sled while xcountry skiing overnights and worth its weight for warmth. Durable and comfortable.

I used it for a night sleeping in temperatures that got as low as 27 degrees F with a sleeping bag rated for 20. I thought I'd be freezing but with a few hand warmers it was so cozy. I'd previously camped in temperatures in the low to mid 30s with the same sleeping bag, extra blankets but no sleeping pad and I froze that night. Definitely made a difference

Nice thin foam layer + inflatable. Excellent temp control, comfort and ease of use. Not small but worth the extra packing space needed for it.

I spent 2 weeks in wall tent at 8000 feet this past September. I'm going on 70 and was concerned if I would slowly wear down from not sleeping well. My buddy loaned me a good cot and a Therm-A-Rest BaseCamp pad. I was absolutely thrilled with how warm and comfortable I slept. It truly made it a wonderful trip. I was so happy that I've purchased a good cot and my own Therm-A-Rest Basecamp XL pad for our 2020 trip out west.

Works as needed, but had several spots/stains on it when it arrived. Was it a previous return? Not a deal breaker, but not what I expected.

When I started backpacking in 1949 at 17 years old we didn`t use a sleeping pad at all. A few years later I started carrying a thick foam pad that I bought at a surplus store. as the years went on there were heavy air mattresses and finally Thermarest products. I don`t think any of these Products could be any better. I love all the Thermarest and MSR products. Russ Anderson

I got the regular size Base Camp ThermaRest. I love this new version of the original orange ThermaRest that I've used for over 25 years. I actually like this new one better because the fabric is not as slick and it seems thicker when inflated. It is plenty long for me, 6'3", and thick enough for comfort at 180 lbs. It takes awhile to reach it's maximum inflation when new, but after that, it fills on its own just fine. I also bought the regular size to fit on top of my cots whereas the large size is too wide. Would buy again no problem.

We use the BaseCamp on our Grand Canyon raft trips & our folks love them. There is just enough cushion between their bodies & the terrain to give them a good night sleep after a day of exploring the wonders of the Canyon. The folks can settle down for a good night sleep while gazing at our amazing clear starry skies.

I purchase this mat in 2000 while I was serving in the military. It's been all over the Middle East, mountains and desert. It serves me still in the hills and mountains of the UK. If I'm out in the sticks at night it goes with me.

Our class B RV has single beds convertible into a full size which is very practicle. My husband is happy with the mattress firmness but I wasn't ; I wanted something extra, compact, double duty use and easy to use. This matress provides just that. I can set it up quickly as it is self inflatable; it's also used as a beach pad when needed ; it's easy to clean; and, it doesn't break the bank.

I already had a Neo Air (25x77) that I use in my "Tent-cot" and love it so I bought this larger one for sleeping in my truck. I needed the extra width. I only wish I had learned of these years ago. I fought Many regular air mattresses for years, never more. Therm-a-rest has saved the day!

Super comfortable, looks to be high quality item. This review is only based on a quick test run of the sleeping pad at home, we have not used them on a camping trip yet. The BaseCamp pad seems very comfortable and is made very well. We are planning to use them as an improvement to the poor bunk mattresses in our camping trailer. This should improve the sleeping when we use the trailer, and can also be used if we decide to go tent camping.

What's not to like? A good night's sleep in almost any conditions, once you get the inflation level adjusted to your particular liking. Also loved the discount I got on my second one after my puppy chewed up the first one.

The Base Camp is available in a nice wide 30" XL for big guys but still rolls up into a nice 6" roll. It is only 2" thick, but you never feel ground below....amazingly. One suggestion to Therm-A-Rest is to offer a sheet custom fitted to the mattress which could slide over it like a sock. My wife used some old sheets and made some covers and they really worked great! Easy to clean and leaves the mattress in perfect shape. Overall, the Base Camp is the "sweet spot" in the line, achieving excellent sleep comfort and decent portability. Backpackers will chose smaller but sacrifice comfort. These babies can be used as a guest bed at home in a pinch....they're THAT comfortable. Also, they are quiet and don't "rustle" like some of the thicker ones in the line. They are expensive, but I think in the end they will prove worth every penny and then some. I love it.

It's a great mattress. I bought one 10 yrs ago. I needed another, so I bought Basecamp, but first nite I used it deflated making for a miserable sleep. I discovered that the seam near the inflator would leak air. I know you stand by your product, so I expect a replacement with no cost to me. I will send it back very soon. I wouldn't want another if I thought your product wasn't worth it. Thank you very much, Ted Byfield

Durable and comfortable - a good investment

I have used my Basecamp mattress regularly for the last 7 years. It has been trouble free, and is still in great condition with little to no wear to show for it. I would expect it to last for another 7 at this rate! In addition to this it has been effective and comfortable in year round conditions. At 6', 200 lbs, with a width of 24" the XL gives me plenty of room and support. I even bought the fitted sheet and tech blanket to go with my Basecamp, which works great as well!
Not the workhorse, but the Clydesdale of camp mats

These luxuriant mats turn cots, bunks, and even cold hard ground into comfortable sleeping platforms. Almost impervious to wear, tear, and punctures, easily repaired if you're careless, and with a bullet-proof warranty (Cascade Designs insisted on replacing a 30 yr. old pad, which by then owed me nothing...) Good gear, good company!
Few designs are as iconic as the classic Therm-a-Rest mattress, and the BaseCamp is the updated version of the classic portable camping mattress. Many people use it as an extra guest bed, in cabins with older furniture, or for car camping. It offers excellent self-inflating convenience, exceptional all-season warmth and great support, so you can get a good night's rest no matter where your adventure takes you.
