Mountain Hardwear Absolute Zero Parka for Men

I purchased this parka a couple of weeks ago, and, so far, I rate it 5 out of 5. It is the warmest parka I have owned, and it is very comfortable. I am 5'11" and 160 pounds, and the medium size has sufficient room for layers, but it is not too bulky and it fits me very well. The parka has a velcroed flap that covers the zipper and keeps out any draft, and the hood also is held shut with velcro. The hood is a serious hood that fits well, and, when the parka is zipped all the way up, it covers my chin and mouth. With the hood velcroed shut, most of my face is covered. I also like the internal sleeve cuffs that block any draft from going up between my gloves and the main sleeve. The pockets are a good size and plenty large enough for my hands and some additional items. We haven't had really cold winter weather since I received the parka, but I am confident that it will keep me warm under any typical Montana winter conditions, with any necessary layers. I am 66 years old and have health issues and poor circulation, so I get colder than many people. Most people probably would not need much in the way of layers under this parka in normal winter weather. My only slightly negative comment about the parka is that the velcro that closes the zipper flap and hood works so well that it can be difficult for me to separate it, and I cannot separate it with gloves on, but it definitely does its job in keeping the zipper flap and hood closed snuggly. I imagine the velcro will ease up some with use, and it is not a big problem. Overall, it is a very nice, very comfortable, and very warm parka.

Bought this as a work coat, as I am required to wear "high vis" clothing this orange is perfect. We're doing contract forestry work for a utility up here in NorCal. This coat is awesome, wind doesn't blow through it, super warm while I stand around...! It's really like wearing a sleeping bag!! However, I didn't like that the hood wasn't removable. I think it should be buttoned on but, I'm not a designer. So I had it cut off and hand sewn closed. They sewed buttons on the jacket and hoops on the hood. For me, much more comfortable to wear in and out of the truck.

This is a great coat - too many people want it when it gets below zero. It provides warmth rather than just keeps cold out.

Very snuggy warm. Big. Had to exchange XL down to Large. Love it. No stealth movements.

Awesome parka. Best winter coat I’ve ever owned. Get a size smaller than you would ordinarily wear. I’m 5-10 and weigh 160. The small is perfect.

highly recommend this jacket. Made very well but it has to be very cold to wear. Tried North Face, Eddie Bauer, Marmot jackets for extreme cold weather this one is warmer and is made better.

With this parka, I am ready for the Chicago winter. I like the parka even though it is a bit too big on me.
