Great backpack

I bought a version of this backpack about 10 years ago and I loved it. Unfortunately, it wore out. The new version is an improved version of the old: its a good size for a day hike, has a lot of pockets and its adjustable. I love it.

Best Daypack Ever <3

Best daypack I have had so far?love the hip pockets for essentials, and the fit and webbing through the back is comfortable and functional! Highly recommend.

Love the adjustable torso length

I have a Juno 25 and love it, but it was a little big for summer day hikes. I decided to get the Maya 16 and it is the perfect volume. One thing that I didn't know was a feature that I would love is the adjustable back panel. I have never been professionally sized for a pack but my best tries at home put me at around 17". I am also taller and have a bigger frame than the average woman. With the Jade pack, even though I am within the size range, sometimes I feel like I'm compromising between where the hip strap goes and not having the shoulder strap buckles in my armpits. Adjusting the back panel on this pack solved that issue and it fits much better! I think this adjustable panel should be a standard feature on all of your one-size daypacks. Love all of the pockets and the meridian teal is a really cool color (my first choice of Mercury Gray was sold out). Comfortable and not too hot on the back, just like the Jade. Another solid pack from Gregory!

Great features and comfort

I have had the Maya 16 for a couple of years now and absolutely love it. I was looking for a day pack that would be comfortable. One of my friends recommended the Maya 16. The size is perfect for a day hike and it is very comfortable. The only thing that I think can be improved is some more sturdy material for the exterior base of the pack. It seems to pill and get damaged on rough surfaces like when you might be scrambling up rocks. However I would still highly recommend the pack and plan on buying a second one.

Mostly good

I got a Gregory pack as I really liked the one my partner has. One of my favorite features is that it has the full zippered front to access all of the contents at once rather than just digging through everything from the top. However, what I didn't realize is that he has the free-floating suspension, which keeps the back off his back. I should have gotten the Jade which has that feature. This one is "body hugging" and it is hot. I don't care how much mesh is there if it is laying against your back it is hot. I keep all the weight on my hips to try to keep it off my back as much as possible. Also, I don't like the water bottle pockets on any of these. I find it very hard to access. I have to take of a strap and move the back around so I can get the bottle and put it back. It's a pain that I can't access it while fully on. Otherwise, I love the various pockets, the front accessibility and the size is pretty perfect. Just wish I had gotten the Jade to keep it more off my back!

Love the design, fit is good, but quality uneven

I was looking for a nice, sturdy daypack for short to all-day hikes, and Maya 16 seemed to fit the bill well. I like all the pockets, the design of the fit, and the sternum and hip buckle straps to help distribute the weight. The extra expansion on the pocket is also great for extra layers. The color is also a plus. I also like that the back pocket for the reservoir works very well. I noticed that the side pockets for water bottles is a bit small, although it can fit a standard Nalgene. Unfortunately, after one day of use, the loop attachments on the shoulder strap (can be used to strap in the water reservoir tube) started detaching and fraying, so it seems the quality of the backpack construction and the sewing is uneven.

Elastic Loop became detached after two uses.

After two uses, the elastic loop on the left shoulder strap detached. The company will repair it and cover the shipping. However, I am surprised to have a defective product. Good, responsive customer service. Wish I had purchased from REI for easier returns.

Great little pack

All my previous packs have been Ospreys and so far I prefer this pack. I?m tall 5?10? and it feels great on and comfortably holds all I need for a day hike or XC ski. Aside from the basics I was able to load it with a lunch, hat, mittens, shell, down jacket, dog treats and a full 2 lt bladder.

Good buy!

Amazing day pack. Light and fits perfectly on your back. Well thought design about the gears you carry during a hike and have designated easy access pockets for the same.

Buy a Gregory...you'll never go back to your old pack!!

I absolutely LOVE my new backpack!! I used to be an Osprey backpack only gal, but Gregory is a far superior product. From the heavy duty materials that they use, the tough zipper pulls and zippers, the very roomy pocket sizes (where other companies fall short!), and the well designed water bottle holders, there is no reason to look anywhere else for a pack! I love the wide variety of sizes and the gender-specific models are a must! The pack stays tight on your body for those times when you might be boulder hopping or hand climbing. Buy a Gregory, you'll never go back! (One small request...adding a small, narrow pouch on the shoulder strap for mace or a small knife!)

So far so good!

So far so good! I've only taken this on the trail once, but it was super comfy for an 8 mile trail in Central Washington with ~3000 gain. Good weight distribution with my water and was still really comfortable once the bladder was empty. Just the right size for a day trip.

She's a winner all right

I love this! I've been looking for a good day-hike pack for years— but I'm picky about what I look for. I was originally looking as osprey packs, but wasn't finding one that met all my needs. I saw my mom's old Gregory pack from the 80s in the closet (we still use it) and thought I'd give Gregory a try. I wanted a pack with a fairly small capacity, easy-access pockets for my phone and a snack (like I have on my 50L osprey aura), a bladder sleeve, and a sleek, classic design that's not overbuilt— even though I want like a million things on my pack. I was so impressed when this came in the mail. Love that I can adjust the torso length, love the pockets, love the capacity. I use the sunglasses holder to hold the mouth of my bladder and it works perfectly to keep the tube from bouncing around. Hip belt felt weird at first for a small pack, but after a few hikes I've really grown to like it. On top of all of that, the poppy red color is bright and fun. It's a winner!!! #sweepstakes

Only pack that checked all the boxes

This was the only pack I found that was under 20L, had hip pockets, dedicated pole holders, and an adjustable harness. I'm very happy with it. Originally tried the 10L but it did not have pole holders, the 16L doesn't feel too much bigger. Enough space for a water bladder, light outer or rain layer, snacks, first aid, binoculars, with a little extra space. Overall, exactly what I was looking for!

Perfect pack for day hikes

This pack is the perfect size for my moderate-difficult day hikes in most climates. Pack is lightweight and stylish. Easily fits 3 liter water reservoir, rain coat, light jacket, and food/snacks for the day. Fits well and can barely tell you're carrying any weight. Loved that the waist pocket could hold my iPhone X which made it easily accessible. #sweepstakes

Better than Osprey

I tried the comparable Osprey and decided on the Gregory for several reasons: The shoulder straps are farther apart which is a more comfortable fit (the Osprey straps pushed into my neck because they are quite close together). The waist belt storage is larger and easier to access, fitting my iPhone 6s easily and within easy reach. The hydration "hook" is sturdy, super easy to use and cross product compatible - I am able to hang my Nathan hydration better than in my actual Nathan running pack. There are plenty of storage spaces and plenty of overall storage capacity for everything I need for a day hike (food, 2L hydration bladder - looks like it could fit up to a 3L, food, first aid, jacket, other safety supplies) The frame sits nicely "away" from my mid-back allowing great ventilation - I'd forgotten what it was like to not have a soaked back after a hike.
